Billy Joe Chambers, 74, died Sunday June 28, 2009. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with the Rev. Arthur Gunn, the Rev. Daryl Young and the Rev. Milton Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at West View Cemetery.

Mr. Chambers was a native of Clermont but had made his home in Milledgeville since 1957. He was retired from Central State Hospital and a veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Chambers, son, Jackie Chambers, and daughter, Amy Osley. He was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his companion, Dot Hussey of Linton; his stepchildren, Wendell Hussey of Milledgeville, Mike Hussey of Sparta, Laurette Garner of Warrenton, Sherry Weldon of Cordele and Melinda Jackson of Macon; his sister, Eddis Edwards (George) of Augusta; eight stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and three nieces.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
