Anne Drexel

MILLEDGEVILLE — Anne Elizabeth Bacon Drexel, 86, passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at Irwinton Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery.

Mrs. Drexel was a native and life long resident of Wilkinson County. She retired as a senior case worker with the Georgia Department of Family & Children Services with 25 years of service. She was a member of the Irwinton Baptist Church, member of the Izetta Davis Sunday School Class and a leader of the GA’s. Mrs. Drexel was a member of the WMU, the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 253 and the Wilkinson County Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel Hunter and Elizabeth Camp Bacon, and her husband, Richard J. Drexel Jr.

Survivors include two sons, Ricky Drexel (Wanda) of Marietta and David Drexel (Belinda) of Wilkinson County; two daughters, Debra Belcher (Buddy) of Irwinton and Marion Fallin (Clay) of Social Circle; two brothers, Richard Bacon (Gloria) and Raymond Bacon (Grace); a sister, Catherine “Paps” Moodie, all of Irwinton, grandchildren; Richard Drexel IV (Janie), Brett Drexel, Felicia Drexel, Josh Gibbs, Kristina Drexel, Elizabeth Gibbs, Anna Fallin Avertt (Kevin), Emma Drexel, John Gibbs and James Fallin; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and special friends, Dorothy Davis, Pat Hatcher and Eloise Williams.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Irwinton Baptist Church.

Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Irwinton Baptist Church or GA Baptist Children’s Home.

Couey-Reece-Stanley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
