Crop-duster pilot killed in Pinehurst crash

PINEHURST — Dooly County authorities say a pilot has died in a crop-duster crash.

The plane crashed about 11:45 a.m. Thursday while attempting to land in Pinehurst. Kathleen Bergen, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration, says the Cessna 188-B aircraft was owned by A&C; Ag Aviation.

The pilot's name was not immediately released. A&C; Ag Aviation president David Chancy declined to comment before informing the pilot's family of his death.

Bergen says the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
