8U All-Stars win District, head to state

MILLEDGEVILLE — The 8U Baldwin Recreation All-Star football team won the District 6 Class B title and continued the wave into a 45-6 state quarterfinal playoff victory over Macon County Saturday. Baldwin County Recreation Department football league president and All-Star coach Dexter Ricks said Macon County surprised the Baldwin group scoring on their second drive. The 7- and 8-year-old squad switched up the looks to dominate afterwards. 'We made adjustments and were able to really run away with it. We had a lot of kids that normally didn't get to run the ball that got some touches and scores as well,' Ricks said. The Baldwin All-Stars play Lee County for the semifinal in Bainbridge Saturday, Dec. 8. If the local stars win, they play the state final on Sunday.
