MILLEDGEVILLE — In a game of utmost class and sportsmanship, the JMA C-Team softball team hosted the Sinclair Christian Academy girls Thursday afternoon and won 13-0.
The young Lady Trojans are now 3-1 on the season.
JMA’s Megan Davis (2-0) picked up where she left off with travel ball and pitched a no-hitter in the win. Davis also struck out five batters and walked one.
Some of the leading hitters for JMA included Kendall Rowland who batted 2 for 3 with three RBI. Hannah Chapman was 1 for 1 with a triple and a two RBI.
JMA C-Team head coach Trey Rowland was quite thrilled with his team’s performance and said they are starting to come together at the plate and in the field.
“We are starting to hit the ball now and starting to play defense like we are capable of. The younger girls are stepping up,” said Rowland. “Offensively, we are hitting the ball like we are capable of.”
The team has been getting a tremendous boost from its younger players, something that has pleased Rowland.
“I think they are doing great. The first game we lost was probably nerves. Our four sixth graders are really stepping up and are playing the speed of the game,” he said. “I think our pitching is there with Dixie Raley and Megan Davis. I have a one-two punch that’s a lot better than in the past. I’m really proud of them.”
Pitcher Dixie Raley is now 1-1 on the season, and will get a shot to add to her win total when the team faces Nathanael Greene on the road Tuesday.
