March, vigil today to honor domestic violence victims

MILLEDGEVILLE — A march a candlelight vigil will be held today beginning at 6 p.m. at Bonner Park to honor victim's of domestic violence during National Crime Victim's Rights Week. Every April since 1981, when President Ronald Reagan declared the first Crime Victim's Week, the Office for Victims of Crime has helped lead communities throughout the country in annual observances of National Crime Victims' Rights Week. In Milledgeville, the S.A.F.E. Program and State Court Solicitor's Office is sponsoring a Walk to End Domestic Violence. This event will take place today starting at 6 p.m. and will last until about 7 p.m. The walk and candlelight vigil will begin at Bonner Park, “the Pit," and will end at the Baldwin County Courthouse, culminating in a vigil in remembrance of those whose lives have been affected.
