MILLEDGEVILLE — The Georgia College fraternity Pi Kappa Alpha setup Hoops for Hope earlier this week, benefiting the local Habitat for Humanity chapter.
The wind was a factor day one, but Pike Philanthropy Chair Bennett Bruder said Wednesday’s effort gained increased donations.
People donated $1 to take a basketball shot. Those making the basket got Halloween candy. The Pikes ran Putts for a Purpose last April raising $500 for Habitat.
Bruder said Habitat Executive Director Murali Thirumal got the fraternity into a Greek initiative mindset.
'We want to have a good face and presence in the community,' Bruder said. 'We want people to know that we can put on professional events and help out too.'
