Alyssa Amerson no-hits region foe Glascock as GMC Prep continues to play sharp ball

Lady Bulldogs also top Montgomery County 5-2 in Johnson County tournament

Playing like an elite team on a mission, the GMC Prep Lady Bulldogs walloped rival Glascock County 15-0 in highly anticipated region action Thursday in Gibson.

The Lady Bulldogs and superstar pitcher Alyssa Amerson put on a clinic on how to take control of an opponent with a brilliant mix of expert pitching and pinpoint hitting.

For the game, Amerson pitched a no-hitter, registering four strikeouts in three innings of work. The Lady Bulldogs also had a plethora of solid hitters Thursday and were led by the dynamic due of Kaylee Johnson and Kaylee Fuller. Johnson led the team in overall hitting, batting 3 for 3 with three RBI. Fuller led the team in runs batted in, finishing with four on a 2 for 3 performance. Other notables include Whitney Hardie who ended the day batting 1 for 2 with two RBI, and Alix Durden who finished by going 2 for 3 with one RBI.

Krista Lanzilotta also had a terrific game, batting 1 for 2 with an RBI, as well as teammate Adrienne Couey who batted a perfect 1 for 1.

On Monday, GMC lost a tough one to West Laurens by the close score of 3-1 in their opening game of the Johnson County tourney. The leading hitters in the game were Alyssa Amerson, who did everything she could by going 2 for 2. Adrienne Couey also came away with a hit in the contest.

The Bulldogs also battled hard, but dropped a close one to Johnson County in the tournament by a score of 4-2. Alyssa Amerson pitched a fine game, but the Bulldog bats needed a little more punch. The leading hitters in the game were Whitney Hardie and Alix Durden, both batting 1 for 3 with an RBI. Other key hitters included Christin Cox, Krista Lanzilotta and Kaylee Fuller, all hitting 1 for 3 in the game.

But, as stated earlier, the Lady Bulldogs would storm back in the their next two games. Before dismantling Glascock, GMC Prep faced off with a feisty Montgomery County squad and took them prisoner 5-2.

Amerson came back with another pleasing pitching performance by recording four strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Christin Cox would charge the bases after her 3 for 4 hitting performance, and Kaylee Johnson did it once again with another 3 for 3 day and two RBI. Alix Durden was the team RBI leader, batting 1 for 4 with two runs batted in. Krista Lanzilotta also had a hot bat, grinding out two hits in four plate appearances.

After traveling to Wrightsville Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs will be back at home Tuesday to take on Hancock County starting at 4:30 p.m. at Couch Field.
