MILLEDGEVILLE —
The Milledgeville AT&T store is tentatively set for a Nov. 15 opening, according to a company spokesperson.
The new location will boast a larger showroom floor and more parking spaces, while remaining on the busy U.S. Highway 441 corridor.
The larger showroom is being built between Arby’s and Bill Kent Hyundai in the 2500 block of North Columbia Street near Walmart Supercenter. Spokesperson Stacey Harth said the new store will be much larger than the existing location in the Columbia Village Shopping Center near Lowe’s.
“[There will be] 3,500 square feet with 2,480 actual sales floor space,” Harth said.
AT&T is the exclusive carrier for Apple’s popular iPhone and also provides 3G data plans for the iPhone and Apple’s iPad. AT&T also offers a wide variety of wireless devices.
Construction began May 5, and workers are performing trim and other finishing work on the exterior of the building. The November finishing date is expected to coincide with the Christmas shopping season.
Harth said the store is designed for nine employees but may expand.
“We will have nine employees,” she said, “but [we] may add additional folks as needed.”
AT&T’s new location will not result in a change in hours of operation. The new store will also be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The new store is a standalone store. AT&T’s current location is in the strip mall created with the re-purposing of the old Northside Elementary School.
