MILLEDGEVILLE —
The Division of Child Support Services and the Fatherhood Program are hoping to bring joy and comfort to more than 400 area children this year by distributing stuffed toys through the fifth annual Bearable Hugs for Georgia’s Children campaign.
Since the project kicked off in 2008, the Ocmulgee Milledgeville office of the Georgia Department of Human Services, serving Baldwin, Jones, Putnam, Morgan, Jasper, Hancock, Greene and Wilkinson counties, has distributed stuffed animals to children hospitals, pediatric facilities, women’s shelters, law enforcement agencies and other children’s organizations.
Area organizations, schools, businesses or churches interested in participating can collect age-appropriate new or like-new stuffed toys for children through Tuesday, Feb. 14. The community can drop off stuffed toys at the Child Support Services office at 111 Fieldstone Dr., Suite 200, located on the second floor.
For more information about the campaign, to become a collection site, to drop off toys or make a monetary donation, contact local Georgia Fatherhood Agent Starkeila Harper at (478) 445-4049 or stharper@dhr.state.ga.us.
