Wilco teacher questioned by law enforcement

IRWINTON — A Wilkinson County High School teacher was questioned Monday by the Wilkinson County Sheriff's Office.

The teacher was questioned by authorities after it was alleged he had inappropriate contact with a student. 

Superintendent Dr. Aaron Geter Jr. said the incident is currently under investigation and that the high school administration is assisting.

The teacher has submitted a letter of resignation. His resignation has not been formally approved by the Wilkinson County Board of Education. 

"Any allegation of harm against a student is taken seriously and we are working with the proper authorities as they investigate," Geter said.
