The Milledgeville Convention & Visitor’s Bureau has released its list of projects the organization would like to see created in 2007 — and a museum district for Milledgeville is among the more ambitious on the list.
The list includes adding directional signage in the historic district, creating a virtual tour of Milledgeville, Web site optimization for several online locations and a driving CD of the historic walking tour frequently advertised by the CVB.
The concept of a museum district for Milledgeville came after Matt Davis, assistant curator of education at The Old Governor’s Mansion, was traveling through Macon and noted how that city had created a museum district highlighting the many educational opportunities in the area for school children, local youth and the community.
“One afternoon I was riding through Macon and saw the signs they had for their museum district. I realized what a benefit it could be for Milledgeville and the sights here downtown,” Davis said.
