Saturday, Oct. 11

8 a.m.: The 100 Black Men of Milledgeville and Baldwin County meet at the Allen’s Market building on Wayne Street.

9 a.m. to noon: Fall Forum '08 Community Conversations will be held at Hancock Central High School, 11311 Hwy. 15 N., in Sparta. This will be the first in a series of action-oriented programs designed to bring citizens, officials, organizations and businesses together to collaborate on ideas and resources available for the advancement of Hancock County. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.: The Oconee Regional Chapter of Project Linus meets in the Education Center of Park Tower at Oconee Regional Medical Center. Attendees should bring their lunch.

3 p.m.: The Twin Lakes Library System will hold a Grand Opening Ceremony for the newest branch of the system, the Allen Library, at 400 N. Glynn St. The event is free and open to the public. Call (478) 452-0677 for visit www.twinlakeslibrarysystem.org for more information.

10 a.m.: The Milledgeville Amateur Radio testing team conducts licensing tests for all three license levels at the Mary Vinson Library. Walk-ins are welcome. (478) 452-6394

12:15 p.m.: The American Sewing Guild Macon Area Chapter meets at Ingleside Ingleside United Methodist Church, 3187 Ridge Avenue in Macon. The guild will carpool to Designs by Diane in Roberta. This Quilt Shop is owned and operated by Diane Dye who loves to quilt and believes everyone else will love it, after she teaches them. She will present an interesting program about quilting. Monday, Oct. 13

11:30 a.m.: The Middle Georgia Chapter 1051, National Association of Regular and Retired Federal Employees, meets at Golden Corral.

Noon to 4 p.m.: Harriet’s Closet, a free supply closet to help fill the needs of cancer patients, is open in Room 413 of Oconee Regional Medical Center.

4 p.m.: The Baldwin County Board of Registrars holds its monthly meeting in Room 214 of the Baldwin County Courthouse.

6 p.m.: The Bicycling Club of Milledgeville meets in the parking lot behind Oconee Outfitters for its weekly road ride. Beginner pace for first hour, moderate pace later.

7 p.m.: BINGO is held at the American Legion on Log Cabin Road. No one under the age of 18 is permitted. Refreshments are sold by the Ladies Auxiliary. (478) 452-8538

7 p.m.: The GCSU Young Democrats will host a joint meeting with the Baldwin County Democratic Committee in room 102 of Chappell Hall at GCSU. All interested Democrats are invited to attend.

7:30 p.m.: The Oconee River Buskers Square Dance Club meets at the Walter B. Williams Recreation Center. Round dancing begins at 6:30 p.m.

7:30 p.m.: Milledgeville Jaycees meet at Walter B. Williams Jr. Park.



Tuesday, Oct. 14

9 to 11:30 a.m.: MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meet at Hardwick Christian Church, 113 Thomas St., in Hardwick. MOPS is designed to encourage mothers of children ages 0-6 years old with relationships, resources and leadership. (478) 251-1532 or (478) 452-1125 or www.MOPS.org

12:45 p.m.: The Milledgeville Kiwanis Club meets at the Milledgeville Country Club. Visitors are welcome to the program and to lunch with a club sponsor.

1 p.m.: The Eatonton Duplicate Bridge Club, an official member of the American Contract Bridge League, meets at the Eatonton Performing Arts Center on Madison Avenue in Eatonton. Come with a partner or e-mail Pat Turney at turney@plantationcable.net for a possible partner match.

5:30 p.m.: The Baldwin County Board of Education meets at the board administrative building, 110 N. ABC Drive.

6 p.m.: The Baldwin County Commission meets in Suite 319 of the courthouse.

7 p.m.: The Sweet Georgia Sound Sweet Adeline Chorus meets at Vineville Christian Towers to practice, socialize and sing. It is for women only. (478) 932-5387

7:30 p.m.: Milledgeville City Council meets at City Hall.

8 p.m.: Georgia College Music Therapy students hold a drumming circle in Terrell Hall Room 122. The circle offers a time of connection and closeness as well as provides an opportunity to escape from the pressures of day-to-day life. The event is open to the community. (404) 660-0884



Wednesday, Oct. 15

10:30 a.m.: VIP, a support group for visually impaired persons, meets at the First Presbyterian Church, 210 S. Wayne St. (478) 452-1444

1 to 2:30 p.m.: Falun Gong offered at Central City Park (formerly Bonner Park) picnic area. Cultivate mind and body with five sets of easy-to-learn exercises suitable for all ages and all physical conditions. Classes are free. (478) 453-4241

4 p.m.: The Mohawk Faith-Based Committee will meet in Mohawk Conference Room on Roberson Mill Road.

Thursday, Oct. 16

7 a.m.: The Old Capital Kiwanis Club meets in Room 2-52 of Herty Hall on the GCSU campus.

8:30 a.m.: The Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce Full Board meets in the Chamber Boardroom at 130 S. Jefferson St.

10 a.m.: Baldwin County Board of Commissioners holds a public hearing and kick off meeting for the 2008 CDBG water improvements project.

Noon: The Rotary meets at the Country Club.

Noon: The Eatonton Kiwanis Club meets at Central Georgia Tech on the James Marshall bypass.
