Tuesday, Sept. 9

8:30 a.m.: The Milledgeville Convention & Visitors Bureau Board of Directors will hold its monthly meeting at the CVB offices on Hancock Street.

9 a.m. to 11 a.m.: The Northridge Christian Church MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meets at Northridge Christian Church currently located at 113 SE Thomas Street in Hardwick. MOPS is for all moms who want to be a better mom regardless if you are pregnant with your first or your youngest is in kindergarten. Childcare is provided. 12:45 p.m.: The Milledgeville Kiwanis Club meets at the Milledgeville Country Club. Visitors are welcome to the program and to lunch with a club sponsor.

1 p.m.: The Eatonton Duplicate Bridge Club, an official member of the American Contract Bridge League, meets at the Eatonton Performing Arts Center on Madison Avenue in Eatonton. Come with a partner or e-mail Pat Turney at turney@plantationcable.net for a possible partner match.

5:30 p.m.: The Baldwin County Board of Education meets at the board administrative building, 110 N. ABC Drive.

6:30 p.m.: The Old Capital Car Club meets at IHOP (International House of Pancakes), 2598 N. Columbia St., for dinner followed by the meeting at 7:30 p.m. All auto enthusiasts are invited to attend. (478) 453-7098 or (478) 453-0295.

7 p.m.: The Sweet Georgia Sound Sweet Adeline Chorus meets at Vineville Christian Towers to practice, socialize and sing. It is for women only. (478) 932-5387

Wednesday, Sept. 10

7:30 a.m.: Lake Oconee Promise Keepers meets at The River of Life center on Scott Road. Jack Minchey (706) 473-0431.

10 a.m.: The Newcomers Club of Milledgeville meets at the Hardwick United Methodist Church, 195 SE Hardwick St.

11 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Central State Hospital will host an open house for a new GED and literacy program being created between Central Georgia Technical College and CSH. Visitors will have an opportunity to learn not only about the Literacy Program but also about other continuing education opportunities offered by local colleges and universities.

1 to 2:30 p.m.: Falun Gong offered at Central City Park (formerly Bonner Park) picnic area. Cultivate mind and body with five sets of easy-to-learn exercises suitable for all ages and all physical conditions. Classes are free. (478) 453-4241

6 p.m.: The Milledgeville Historical Preservation Commission will hold a Historic Preservation Training Commission Meeting at Allen’s Market Building at the intersection of McIntosh/Wayne Streets.

6 p.m.: Goldwing Road Riders Association Georgia Chapter 1 meets at the Golden Corral on North Columbia Street. Dinner is followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. All bikers and biker enthusiasts may attend.



Thursday, Sept. 11

7 a.m.: The Old Capital Kiwanis Club meets in Room 2-52 of Herty Hall on the GCSU campus.

11:30 a.m.: The Old Capitol Optimist Club meets at the Golden Corral Restaurant on North Columbia Street. Everyone is welcome. Yvonne E. Ferrell (478) 452-9411

11:30 a.m.: The Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting for Old Capitol Treasures on Wayne Street in downtown Milledgeville.

11:30 a.m.: The Baldwin County Chapter AARP No. 53387 meets at Hopewell United Methodist Church. All retired persons are welcomed. Please note a different meeting place.

Noon: The Rotary meets at the Country Club.

Noon: The Eatonton Kiwanis Club meets at Central Georgia Tech on the James Marshall bypass.
