School boards come together

Baldwin, Putnam to consider joint charter school application

Baldwin and Putnam County school systems are coming together to apply for a joint vocation charter high school to provide an alternative to the traditional high school environment.

“We look for it to be something very similar to Georgia College Early College. We’re looking for it to be in conjunction with the technical school,” said Baldwin County Schools Superintendent Gene Trammell.

Students will enroll jointly at the charter school and Central Georgia Technical College, he said.

The systems will meet Tuesday morning to discuss the application process and consider state policies that public schools must follow but charter schools can waive, Trammell said.
