Noon: Central State Hospital honors 120 employees for their courageous actions with the Hospital’s first Lifesavers’ Luncheon in the CSH Auditorium. The honorees were nominated by their supervisors for taking part in acts that were heroic and without them death or serious injury may have occurred. 8:30 a.m.: The Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce Full Board meets in the Chamber Boardroom at 130 S. Jefferson St.

Noon: The Rotary meets at the Country Club.

Noon: The Eatonton Kiwanis Club meets at Central Georgia Tech on the James Marshall bypass.

6:30 p.m.: The John Milledge Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, meet at the Milledgeville Country Club.

7 p.m.: The Milledgeville Lions Club meets at the Golden Corral on North Columbia Street.

7 p.m.: The Eatonton Duplicate Bridge Club, an official member of the American Contract Bridge League, meets at the Eatonton Performing Arts Center at Madison Avenue in Eatonton. Come with a partner or e-mail Pat Turney at turney@plantationcable.net for a possible partner match.

9:30 p.m.: Dead Stick Landing, an Athens, Ga. based rock band, holds a debut CD release party at the Velvet Elvis. The band will play the entire CD along with many more originals live on stage on the back deck tiki bar.



Friday, Aug. 22

9 to 11 a.m.: Special Education Child Find meeting for home school parents and private school liaisons will be held in Baldwin BOE dining room.



Saturday, Aug. 23

11 a.m. to 7 p.m.: An old fashioned all-day barbecue dinner from Kinderhook BBQ will be held at The Hut on West Marion Street in downtown Eatonton. The BBQ is sponsored by the Putnam County Democratic Party and will feature guest speaker Commissioner of Labor Michael Thurmond. Forms for those not registered to vote in the November General Election will be available. Campaign literature from democratic candidates throughout Georgia can be picked up. Take out or dine in plates will be ready beginning at 11 a.m. A donation of $10 includes the plate of BBQ, slaw, beans, bread, cake and tea and attendance at the evening program starting at 7 p.m. For further information please call (706) 816-6010 or (678) 773-2338.



Monday, Aug. 25

Noon to 4 p.m.: Harriet’s Closet, a free supply closet to help fill the needs of cancer patients, is open in Room 413 of Oconee Regional Medical Center. A free Mary Kay consultation is available for cancer patients during Closet hours by appointment only. Carol Griffin (478) 453-0295.

5:30 p.m.: Milledgeville-Baldwin County Development Authority meets in the Chamber of Commerce office.

6 p.m.: The Bicycling Club of Milledgeville meets in the parking lot behind Oconee Outfitters for its weekly road ride. Beginner pace for first hour, moderate pace later.

6 p.m.: “The Mourning After” a bereavement group sponsored by Hospice Care Options and the GCSU Psychology Department is held in room 1-15 in the GSCU Arts and Sciences Building. The event is free and open to the public. (478) 453-8572

7 p.m.: BINGO is held at the American Legion on Log Cabin Road. No one under the age of 18 is permitted. Refreshments are sold by the Ladies Auxiliary. (478) 452-8538

7:30 p.m.: The Oconee River Buskers Square Dance Club meets at the Walter B. Williams Recreation Center. Round dancing begins at 6:30 p.m.

7:30 p.m.: Milledgeville Jaycees meet at Walter B. Williams Jr. Park.
