The Lake Oconee Area Chapter of the Georgia State Retirees Association (GSRA) will host an information meeting for state retirees and area legislators on Wednesday, May 13 at the Family Life Center of the Greensboro First United Methodist Church located at 202 W. Broad St. (1 block west of downtown on US 278). Refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 6 p.m. Guest speaker will be Bobbie Jean Bennett, retired Commissioner of the Georgia State Merit System and current Secretary of the GSRA Board of Directors. Many of the State Representatives and State Senators from the Lake Oconee area will attend.
Bennett will present an update on the impacts of the economy, new legislation, and ERS Board actions on state retirees' compensation and health benefit plans. All state retirees, their spouses, and those planning retirement having concerns about the state retirement fund are encouraged to attend this important meeting.
