Bond denied for man accused in home invasion

A man indicted last month on charges related to a violent December home invasion was denied bond Friday morning.

Baldwin Superior Court Judge Hulane George denied bond for Charles Warren Jr. due to the risks he posed to the public, according to court documents.

“The defendant would pose a significant risk of intimidating witnesses, and the defendant would pose a significant flight risk,” court documents state.

Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney Fred Bright said the state “adamantly opposed” bond.

“After Judge George heard the arguments, she agreed with the state and denied bond,” Bright said.

Warren Jr., 21, was indicted in January on two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of armed robbery, kidnaping with bodily injury, burglary and false imprisonment.

The Foshee family, whose home Warren and several others are charged with burglarizing last month, was present for the hearing but did not testify.

Assistant District Attorney Graham Thorpe read a victim impact statement.

“This case did shock the community,” Bright said. “I think the sheer level of violence of the incident is the reason that the defendant and his co-defendant are in the Baldwin County Jail without bond.”

Bright expects the case to go to trial this spring.

On Dec. 18, Warren Jr. and 27-year-old Alonzo Mosley allegedly entered the home of Ken Foshee demanding money after shooting him in the hand while they were on the back porch, according to Baldwin County Sheriff Bill Massee. Foshee’s grandson ran next door to get help from Ronnie Foshee, Ken’s son, who came armed with a handgun.

Warren Jr. reportedly was holding Ken’s wife hostage with a knife to her throat when Ronnie Foshee fired a shot at Warren Jr., but he fled, Massee said.

Ronnie entered the bedroom and observed Mosley holding Ken hostage, and shot Mosley dead, the sheriff said.
