MILLEDGEVILLE —
U.S Congressman Paul Broun, R-Athens, will visit at least two local groups Friday during a trip to Milledgeville.
Broun is scheduled to consult with members of a committee working on a reuse plan at Central State Hospital and with members of the Milledgeville Area Patriots, an installation of the national Tea Party Patriots.
Broun currently represents Georgia's 10th Congressional District that currently stretches from the state's northern border south to Greensboro and east to Augusta. Under the redrawing of the state's congressional districts, the 10th will now include Baldwin County, currently a part of Georgia's 12th Congressional District represented by John Barrow, D-Savannah.
Broun is slated to meet members touting a plan that would find a new use for many of the buildings, some dilapidated, on the Central State Hospital campus. Broun previously met with members of the committee as they traveled to Washington, D.C. to generate support for the project among Georgia's legislative delegation. He will again meet with plan organizer and Milledgeville city planner Mike Couch as well as city manager Barry Jarrett and other city leaders.
Broun is also scheduled to speak at a Tea Party meeting as well.
At noon, Broun will meet members of the Milledgeville Area Patriots at Victory Baptist Church on Meriwether Road, according to Tea Party Vice Chair Janice Westmoreland. Broun will be at the church, located at 640 Meriwether Road at noon Friday. The meeting is open to the public.
