As Thanksgiving approaches, I have a lot to be thankful for. God has given me the gift of four children that I love with all my heart.
Like many parents in the world, I worry about my children and what the future holds for them. The children in Baldwin County that I have had the pleasure of coaching or umpiring, I know their future will be bright.
Two years ago, I fell into a lifelong dream of writing sports for The Union-Recorder. I've had the distinct pleasure of covering local Middle and High School athletics and have been afforded the opportunity feel a part of their athletic inner circle, thanks to the writing.
With this dream I have had some of the most rewarding times of my life including Friday night football games, baseball games, softball or soccer and seeing growth in many players.
I have written stories about some of the area’s best girl and boy athletes.
As we approach Thanksgiving and the Christmas season, never think you are too old to finally have your dreams come true.
For those of you that need to have your memory jogged as to what to be thankful for, look around you. Those young men and women that surround all of us in Milledgeville and Baldwin County are reason enough to be thankful.
They are our future and thanks to each and every one of you who has participated in their lives, they carry a vision that has a high ceiling and a heart and soul that will carry us wonderfully into the world of tomorrow.
Thank you to parents and mentors that have given the right values and taught them well. And to the youth of our community, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your life.
To The Union-Recorder, Natalie Davis, Keith Barlow and Brent Martin, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your staff and work with our area youth. And thank you for giving me meaning to my life.
