Thanks for making Andalusia bluegrass event successful

Rescheduling an outdoor event due to bad weather is always a tricky proposition. Unfortunately, that is exactly what we had to do this year for Bluegrass at Andalusia; however, I am thrilled to report that more than 120 people came out to the home of Flannery O’Connor on the evening of Nov. 7 to hear the incredible music of Redline Express.

I am grateful to The Union-Recorder for providing front-page coverage of the event. Of course, this annual concert would not be possible without the sponsorship of Lynda S. Banks, broker and owner of Wright Banks Realty in Milledgeville, and Mary Anne Murray, agent with Prudential Almon Realty in Yakima, Wash.

For the first time this year we offered grilled hamburgers and hotdogs for our guests thanks to a wonderful team of volunteers coordinated by Matt and Revel Pogue. I would like to thank that group along with all the donors including Sodexo (GCSU), Kroger, northside Piggly Wiggly, Martin’s IGA and Milledgeville Coca-Cola. I am also grateful to Louis Kaduk who offered a free guided nature walk to 25 people before the concert began. I deeply appreciate all our volunteers including Cal and Joanne Battle, Ali Duckworth, Casey Gruca and Billy Allen for their invaluable assistance in making Bluegrass at Andalusia such a tremendous success.
