Fall garden blocking view of marker

MILLEDGEVILLE — On Saturday, June 2, I stopped on Washington Street to see if there were any weeds surrounding the marker that was placed by the Robert E. Lee Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and it could not be seen due to the fact that some one had planted a garden around it and it was so overgrown.

I have no objections to gardens being planted in town, but there are a lot of vacant spots where this could have been done. No monument, regardless of what kind, should be concealed from the public view. I have contacted the city, and no one seems to know who gave permission for this garden. I believe this median belongs to the city.

I hope the person or persons who planted this garden will be considerate enough to remove them and find another place for their fall garden.
