MILLEDGEVILLE —
Several days ago, several hundred people turned out to say good-bye to our friend Wyley Wright.
Wyley never met a stranger, always supported by time, expertise as a plumber/electrician and cash every civic group that was in need for assistance, be it a breast cancer walk-a-thon, GMC Boosters, Northside Baptist Church, Baldwin High Boosters, needy individuals and the list goes on. He was willing and did help hundreds, even thousands here in Baldwin County. A damn good guy!
I visited Wyley shortly after he was told he had to go to hospice, for which I did not know. As expected, I asked him if there was anything I could do for him. Just name it. Wyley being Wyley said yes, there are two things.
One, I would like a pineapple milkshake — Sonic Drive-in made me a pineapple shake that I took to him.
Second, he asked me if I could help a lady who was having a problem with her city taxes, and, yes, this, too, I helped.
Even on his deathbed, Wyley Wright, a damn good guy, wanting to help someone else with her problem.
All of us could learn a thing from Wyley. Be a friend to everyone and help others who are in need. Then you too would be a damn good guy!
