MILLEDGEVILLE —
Baldwin County students are in the midst of rehearsing and preparing to commemorate Black History Month with the community during their annual programs highlighting prominent African-American leaders, educators, scientists and musicians.
Approximately 70 Baldwin High School students will showcase “Through the Eye of the Storm” to pay tribute to music icons Etta James, Whitney Houston and Aaliyah while taking the audience through historic time periods.
The show is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5.
Oak Hill Middle School students will also express their talents and recite the teachings of history makers through dances, skits and poems during their scheduled program of “One Nation” at 6:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, and 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the school in advance.
In the signature segment of the show, “Who Am I,” students will transform into characters ranging from the 1800s to the 21st century. Music idols will also be honored as well as local African American leaders.
As the sponsor of the yearly program, PTO will get a sneak peak of the program during PTO night Tuesday, Feb. 21.
