MILLEDGEVILLE —
Oak Hill Middle School seventh graders in the ACE program are in the midst of learning social study concepts in a creative way by bringing imagination on-screen in preparation for the CRCT (Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests).
Under the guidance and direction of teacher Beth Joiner, the 79 students created the movie idea of “Beyond the Bell,” wrote a script for the 20-minute film, and took on roles of producers, directors, actors and behind-the-scene helpers as part of the annual movie-making project.
The film’s concept is based around students who are on track of not passing the CRCT due to their laziness and lack of attention in class. After the school bell rings, students get trapped inside the school by ninja bunnies who were set up by teacher Sonya Everett to give students a lesson about the importance of studying and learning.
Students will wrap up final scenes next week, and Georgia College senior Jared Powell will edit the scenes together to create a short trailer and the final movie for students, families and peers to watch in time for the CRCT blitz.
Baldwin County school fourth and fifth graders and families are invited to Oak Hill for ACE night at 6 p.m. Monday to learn about the program and its benefits.
