MILLEDGEVILLE —
Baldwin County Fire Rescue will hold a barbecue chicken plate sale Thursday with proceeds going toward the purchase of firehouse equipment.
Tickets can be purchased at Baldwin County Fire Rescue headquarters, 312 Allen Memorial Drive.
The meal will include barbecue chicken and the traditional sides. Tickets are $7 each.
“All month long people have been able to come by the firehouse and purchase a ticket for the barbecue lunch,” said Brandon Barth, public information officer with Baldwin County Fire Rescue.
While proceeds from this week’s fundraiser will go for the purchase of fire equipment, Baldwin Rural Fire frequently extends its fundraising reach to assist other charitable agencies and organizations as a means of giving back. Baldwin Fire Rescue takes part each year in the Muscular Dystrophy Association boot drive, which takes place around the Labor Day holiday weekend and the ‘Give Burns the Boot’ drive, which annually benefits the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.
Last year, Baldwin Fire Rescue, along with the Milledgeville Fire Department, also played host to a charity golf tournament to benefit MDA, raising more than $5,000 for the cause.
While there is no set goal for Thursday’s plate sale, all purchases and donations will be appreciated, Barth said.
“We don’t have a set goal of money to raise this year,” Barth said, “but we’ll be grateful to whoever comes out and buys a lunch. It’s going to a good cause, so we’ll be appreciative of anything.”
