MILLEDGEVILLE —  

Pure Chiropractic Lake Oconee and Pure Chiropractic Milledgeville are collecting canned goods to benefit the less fortunate until Nov. 21. Everyone who donates five or more canned goods will receive a complete spinal exam. For more information, contact (478) 457-0003 (706) 485-1010.

Maddox Investing in America Inc. will be feeding needy families a hot meal for Thanksgiving. For more information about how you can help, contact (478) 453-2221 or visit their office at 133 Old River Bridge Road. There is no donation too big or too small.

The Baldwin County Fire Rescue is collecting toys for their third annual Kids-Yule-Love Toy Drive. Toys collected will be distributed to local children. Any business that would like to participate as a drop point for the public, or would like to do an employee collection, please contact the Baldwin County Fire Head Quarters at (478) 445-4421. The toys will be distributed by the Department of Family and Children Services to families that apply for Christmas Assistance. The follow stations will be drop points: Allen Memorial Drive, Central State Hospital campus, Carr Station Road, Highway 22 and Lovers Lane and Log Cabin Road.

Flu vaccines are now available at the Baldwin County Health Department. They will offer both the traditional flu shot and Flu Mist, which is a nasal spray. Vaccines will cost $25 but are available at no charge to those on Medicaid, Peachcare, Wellcare, Amerigroup, Medicare Part B, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia or a State Benefit Plan through United Healthcare or Cigna. Flu vaccines will also be offered in the schools this year. Parents will receive permission slips from their child’s school in the coming weeks.

Wednesday, Nov. 14

7:30 a.m.: Lake Oconee Promise Keepers meets at The River of Life center on Scott Road. Jack Minchey (706) 473-0431. 

10:30 a.m. to noon: The Oconee Master Gardeners Association will host “Shady Characters: How to add Character and WOW to your shade garden.” Flo Chaffin, owner of Specialty Ornamentals in Watkinsville, will present ideas on improving shade gardens. The presentation will take place at Lockerly Arboretum, 1534 Irwinton Road. The presentation is open to the public and free.

10:30 a.m. to noon: Free computer classes for seniors will be held at the Senior Citizens Center in Baldwin County.

Noon: Milledgeville Exchange Club meets at the Milledgeville Country Club.

1 p.m.: Falun Gong exercise class will be held at Central City Park (formerly Bonner Park) free of charge. Cultivate mind and body with 5 sets of easy-to-learn exercises good for all ages and all physical conditions. For more information, call (478) 453-4241.

1 to 3 p.m.: Digital Bridges Open Computer Clinic is open in the Knight Community Innovation Center, 127 W. Hancock St. Work station availability is limited. The clinic is designed to teach basic skills to adult beginning computer users. Participants may come with specific questions or for general knowledge. 5 p.m.: The Sinclair Water Authority meets at 126 Cay Drive, Milledgeville.

6 p.m.: Goldwing Road Riders Association Georgia Chapter 1 meets at the Golden Corral on North Columbia Street. Dinner is followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. All bikers and biker enthusiasts may attend.
