Friday, Jan. 1

All non-emergency Baldwin County departments will be closed in observance of New Year’s.

Noon: An Emancipation Proclamation service will be held at Greater Historical Wesley Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 425 E. Bell Ave. Chief Woodrow Blue will speak. The community is invited to attend.



Sunday, Jan. 3

2 p.m.: ABATE of Georgia District 7 for all motorcyclists meets at AP’s Hidden Hideaway on Broadway in Macon. (478) 451-9870



Monday, Jan. 4

10 a.m.: Oconee Valley Family YMCA meets at People’s Bank at Harmony Road and Highway 44.

Noon to 4 p.m.: Harriet’s Closet, a free supply closet to help fill the needs of cancer patients, is open. The non-profit organization dedicated to helping cancer patients in Central Georgia has relocated next door to Georgia Cancer Specialists building at Oconee Regional Medical Center.

3 p.m.: “The Mourning After” a bereavement group sponsored by Hospice Care Options is held at the First Baptist Church on South Liberty Street in Milledgeville. The event is free and open to the public. (478) 453-8572

7 p.m.: BINGO is held at the American Legion on Log Cabin Road. No one under the age of 18 is permitted. Refreshments are sold by the Ladies Auxiliary. (478) 452-8538

7:30 p.m.: The Oconee River Buskers Square Dance Club meets at the Walter B. Williams Recreation Center. Round dancing begins at 6:30 p.m.

7:30 p.m.: The Baldwin County chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference meets at American Legion Post 523.



Tuesday, Jan. 5

10:30 a.m.: A Senior Olympic badminton club will be held at the Baldwin County Recreation Department gym. For more information, contact David Carver at (478) 456-2735.

12:45 p.m.: The Milledgeville Kiwanis Club meets at the Milledgeville Country Club. Visitors are welcome to the program and to lunch with a club sponsor.

1 p.m.: The Eatonton Duplicate Bridge Club, an official member of the American Contract Bridge League, meets at the Eatonton Performing Arts Center on Madison Avenue in Eatonton. Come with a partner or e-mail Pat Turney at turney@plantationcable.net for a possible partner match.

4 to 7 p.m.: Milledgeville Marketplace Farmers Market features locally grown produce and hand made products. It is located in the city lot at 222 East Hancock between the Chevron Golden Pantry and the Huddle House. Free customer parking in the freshly cut grassy field just behind the lot. Enter from Elbert Street.

6 p.m.: The Bicycling Club of Milledgeville meets in the parking lot behind Oconee Outfitters for its weekly road ride. Beginner pace for first hour, moderate pace later.

6 p.m.: Baldwin County Board of Commissioners meet in Suite 319 of the Baldwin County Courthouse.

6 to 7 p.m.: Oconee Regional Medical Center offers a free smoking cessation class in the hospital’s Education Center. The class also meets on January 13, 19 and 27. For more information, please call (478) 454-3705.

6:30 p.m.: American Legion Auxiliary Post 523 meets at 430 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. All members are urged to attend.

7 p.m.: The Sweet Georgia Sound Sweet Adeline Chorus meets at Vineville Christian Towers to practice, socialize and sing. It is for women only. (478) 932-5387
