Saturday, Dec. 5
9 to 11 a.m.: St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 220 S. Wayne St., hosts a St. Nicholas Day festival for children ages three-years-old through fifth grade. Nicholas was a real-life Bishop of Myra and patron saint of children and sailors who helped to encourage giving and taught compassion and caring for those in need. The event features stories, games, activities and refreshments. Children will have an opportunity to meet St. Nicholas. Pictures may be taken by parents from 11 a.m. to noon. Individuals can donate hats, socks or novels (westerns or spy) as an outreach program to be distributed to veterans living in the Milledgeville area. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Olive Forge Herb Farm, 161 Browns Crossing Road in Haddock, holds its annual Christmas Open House with chili, goodies, hot mulled cider and lots of recipes to share. The Still Room will be filled with Christmas gift ideas and as always, good conversation when good friends get together. Call (478) 932-5737 for directions.
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Gordon Woman’s Club, 110 College St. in Gordon, hold a Christmas Market including a general store, children’s Santa Secret Shop, used items, gifts, food, bakery items and more. Cash or checks only. Proceeds will purchase a new roof for the Gordon Woman’s Club House.
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: The Brown-Stetson-Sanford House is turned into a living history lesson on Victorian Christmas customs. The house is open for school groups and the general public. Historical Christmas decorations, display of children's pop-up books, silhouette artist, magician, storyteller of Christmas customs, exhibit of historical Santa costumes, gingerbread house contest, refreshments featuring 19th century recipes and a gift shop will be featured. 1:30 p.m.: Oconee Southern Cruisers Riding Club presents a Veteran's Christmas 2009. The club will ride from the Milledgeville Mall to the War Veteran's Home. The following supplies are needed for the gift bags to be given to veterans: shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, combs, brushes, lap blankets, slipper socks (with non-skid sole), pens, notebooks, stamps, gift bags, puzzle books and tissue paper. 2 p.m.: The Exchange Club of Wilkinson County, in association with the City of Gordon, sponsors its 2009 Gordon Christmas Parade in downtown Gordon.
6 to 8 p.m.: Candle light tours will be held at Lockerly Arboretum in Lockerly Hall featuring the Hall decorated with natural materials, tours led by docents in period dress, Santa Claus and his toy workshop and holiday music featuring local artists. Open to the community. Suggested donation of $5 per person. For more information, call (478) 452-2112.
6 to 8 p.m.: An Antebellum Christmas at the Old Governor’s Mansion is illuminated with a magical candlelight tour. Tickets are $10 per person and $7 for seniors. For more information, call (478) 445-4545.
7:30 p.m.: Lakeside Baptist Church, 1035 Milledgeville Hwy. across from Georgia Power’s Plant Branch, presents “The Gospel According to Scrooge,” a powerful and entertaining musical for the whole family. Tickets are free and available at the church or through a cast member. A nursery will be provided for children 3 years and under. For more information, call (478) 485-0835.

1 to 3 p.m.: The Big Click Exhibition opening reception and Allied Arts Holiday open house will be held at the Marlor House, 201 N. Wayne St. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
2 p.m.: ABATE of Georgia District 7 for all motorcyclists meets at AP’s Hidden Hideaway on Broadway in Macon. (478) 451-9870
3 p.m.: The Exchange Club of Milledgeville Christmas Parade will be held in downtown Milledgeville. Applications are available by calling Roc Patel at (478) 452-2335, or by contacting any Exchange Club member.
6 p.m.: A Kwanzaa celebration sponsored in part by the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity will be held in the Magnolia Ballroom on the GCSU campus. A traditional feast will be served and a celebration of the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa will be featured. 6 p.m.: Georgia College and State University hosts the 22nd Annual Kwanzaa Celebration to unite people of all heritages and foster community spirit. Dinner will be served and performers will entertain and express the seven principles of Kwanzaa known in Swahili as the Nguzo Saba. The Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity also will accept non-perishable can goods to help support the GIVE Center and other local food pantries. Monday, Dec. 7
10 a.m.: Oconee Valley Family YMCA meets at People’s Bank at Harmony Road and Highway 44.
Noon to 4 p.m.: Harriet’s Closet, a free supply closet to help fill the needs of cancer patients, is open. The non-profit organization dedicated to helping cancer patients in Central Georgia has relocated next door to Georgia Cancer Specialists building at Oconee Regional Medical Center.
3 p.m.: “The Mourning After” a bereavement group sponsored by Hospice Care Options is held at the First Baptist Church on South Liberty Street in Milledgeville. The event is free and open to the public. (478) 453-8572
6 p.m.: GCSU’s Music Therapy Department holds a community drumming circle led by Music Therapy majors. The event will be held in Room 116 of the Health Sciences Building. For more information, contact Sarah Vick at (404) 660-0884.
7 p.m.: BINGO is held at the American Legion on Log Cabin Road. No one under the age of 18 is permitted. Refreshments are sold by the Ladies Auxiliary. (478) 452-8538
7 p.m.: Georgia Military College Prep School Class of 2015 presents the annual Seventh Grade Play in the Goldstein Center for the Performing Arts. This year’s production is Santa Goes Green will be performed by over 35 seventh graders assisted by GMC Chorus students.
7:30 p.m.: The Baldwin County chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference meets at American Legion Post 523.
7:30 p.m.: The Oconee River Buskers Square Dance Club meets at the Walter B. Williams Recreation Center. Round dancing begins at 6:30 p.m.
