Saturday, Nov. 7

9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: A Community Fun Day, sponsored by JHJ Ministries, Inc., will be held at Louis Huley Park off MLK Drive. A jump house, face painting, table games, Gospel groups and soloists, a Gospel Idol contest, hula hoops, checkers, Stepping for Jesus, egg race and a basketball exhibition will be held throughout the day. Prizes will be awarded. All ages are welcome and the event is free and open to the community. Bring your own lawn chair.

6 to 9 p.m.: Andalusia holds a bluegrass concert featuring Redline Express. Admission is $5 per person. Hamburgers and hot-dogs will be available for purchase or bring a picnic dinner, beverages, chairs and blanket and a flashlight. Louis Kaduck offers a one-mile guided nature walk on Lower Tobler Creek Trial at 5 p.m. before the music begins.

7:30 p.m.: Georgia College Department of Music presents Disney Delights. Enter the magical kingdom where elephants fly, chimney sweeps dance and every wish comes true. The event will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 210 S. Wayne St. Admission is free, donations requested for MNS 2009 Tour. Wednesday, Nov. 11

11 a.m.: A Veteran’s Day celebration will be held at the Georgia War Veterans Home. Georgia Military College cadets, members of the Junior ROTC groups and many others will participate. Brigadier General Maria L. Britt, Commanding General, Georgia Army National Guard, NAS-Marietta, will be the key-note speaker.



Thursday, Nov. 12

11:30 a.m.: The Baldwin Chapter AARP No. 5387 meets at Crockett’s Cafeteria for lunch and the meeting will begin at noon. Please bring items for the food pantry. 

5:30 p.m.: The Lake Oconee Area Chapter of the Georgia State Retirees Association (GSRA) hosts an information meeting for state retirees and area legislators at the Family Life Center of the Greensboro First United Methodist Church. Refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 6 p.m. Guest speaker will be Mr. Bill Tomlinson, State Vice President of GSRA and GSRA’s Legislative Liaison. All state retirees, their spouses, and those planning retirement having concerns about the underfunding of their retirement benefit fund are encouraged to attend this important meeting. 7 to 9 p.m.: The Wilkinson Co. Democratic Party holds an Elected Official Forum at the Wilkinson County Courthouse. Elected office holders which represent Wilkinson County have been invited to attend.



Saturday, Nov. 14

11 a.m. to noon: Milledgeville’s Lockerly Arboretum presents a lecture titled Heirloom Bulbs for Southern Gardens. The Junior Gardener’s program for children aged 9-12 will also be offered at that time, and the arboretum will be holding a special fall plant sale event throughout the day. Wednesday, Nov. 18

8 p.m.: The Milledgeville Players in partnership with Allied Arts presents “Smoke on the Mountain,” a lively tale of survival and hope peppered with 27 gospel tunes set in the Depression days of the 1930s. The reserve tickets only performance will be held at Allen’s Market Building. Tickets are $10.
