Wednesday, July 29

7:30 a.m.: Lake Oconee Promise Keepers meets at The River of Life Center on Scott Road. Jack Minchey (706) 473-0431.

9 a.m. to noon: Baldwin High School will hold its open house. All parents are welcome to attend.

1 to 2:30 p.m.: Falun Gong offered at Central City Park (formerly Bonner Park) picnic area. Cultivate mind and body with five sets of easy-to-learn exercises suitable for all ages and all physical conditions. Classes are free. (478) 453-4241

1:30 to 2 p.m.: Story time program will be held at the Lake Sinclair Library at 3061 N. Columbia St. in the Riverside Plaza Shopping Center. For more information, contact Anne Moore at (478) 452-0677 ext. 29.

6 p.m.: The Educate to Graduate Stay in School Kickoff will be held at Baldwin Stadium of the U.S. Highway 441 Bypass.

6 p.m.: The Bicycling Club of Milledgeville & Baldwin County meets in the basement of Blackbird Coffee on Hancock Street. Join cyclists of all types, ages and levels of ability to discuss plans for upcoming rides. Visit http://mvillebikes.com



Thursday, July 30

7 a.m.: The Old Capital Kiwanis Club meets in Room 2-52 of Herty Hall on the GCSU campus.

Noon: The Rotary meets at the Country Club.

Noon: The Eatonton Kiwanis Club meets at Central Georgia Tech on the James Marshall bypass.

1 p.m.: The Eatonton Duplicate Bridge Club, an official member of the American Contract Bridge League, meets at the Eatonton Performing Arts Center at Madison Avenue in Eatonton. Come with a partner or e-mail Pat Turney at turney@plantationcable.net for a possible partner match.

2 to 5 p.m.: Free HIV testing at 900 Barrows Ferry Road. (478) 445-5518

5:30 p.m.: The Bicycling Club of Milledgeville meets at Bartram Forest on Carl Vinson Road for its weekly mountain bike ride for all levels. Ride at your own pace.

7:30 p.m.: Bingo is held at the American Legion Post 523 on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Refreshments will be sold. (478) 452-1611



Saturday, Aug. 1

10:30 a.m.: Book Buffs, Book Club, of Gray meets in Kema’s Bookstore, Atlanta Highway. Darcy Shores will lead the discussion of “Garden Spells” by Sarah Allen. Interested readers please call Glenda Thompson (478) 986-4498 for more information.

10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Baldwin High School class of 1969 holds a memorial dedication ceremony at the Oconee River Greenway Park and Riverwak. The BHS class of ‘69 will donate a flagpole, United states flag and a Georgia state flag, a lighting system for the flags and moneys marked for the construction of a new entrance way off Greene Street all in honor of their deceased classmates. Maj. Gen. Peter Boyland, President of GMC; Senator Johnny Grant; Milledgeville Mayor Richard Bentley; Dwight Riddle, Woodman Lodge #739 and a number of dignitaries will be present.
