MILLEDGEVILLE — The Old Governor’s Mansion is hosting “Labor Behind the Veil” tours every Tuesday in February from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. by appointment. Ticket cost is as follows: adults, $15; seniors, $8; adult groups, $10; students, $4. To make a reservation (due the day before), contact (478) 445-4545.

The Animal Rescue Foundation Inc. (ARF) will hold its 15th Annual ARF Auction on Saturday, March 2, at the Milledgeville Country Club. Tickets are $40 and there will be heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

Ocmulgee Court Appointed Special Advocates is looking for volunteers for its next training session. CASA is a non-profit organization that works with abused and neglected children that have found themselves involved in the court system through no fault of their own. These children need a voice in court and that is the role of CASA to see that these children have an opportunity to have their voices heard and to received services needed. Interested volunteers should contact the CASA office at (478) 452-9170 or visit their website at www.ocmulgeecasa.org.

The City of Milledgeville water department will be conducting maintenance on the 1 million gallon ground storage water tank located on Dunlap Road. The tank will be out of service beginning Jan. 29 and will remain out of service for approximately six weeks. This is part of the City’s preventive maintenance program to ensure a high quality of drinking water for our customers. Customers in this area may experience low water pressure and/or discolored water. If you experience this please contact the Water and Sewer office at (478) 414-4052.

 

Tuesday, Feb. 26

10:30 to 11 a.m.: Mary Vinson Memorial Library, 151 S. Jefferson St., will host a Toddler Time Program (ages: 18 months to 3 years). For more information, contact Youth Services at (478) 452-0677 ext. 129.

10:30 a.m.: A Senior Olympic badminton club will be held at the Baldwin County Recreation Department gym.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Cafe Central is open every Tuesday at Freedom Church in Milledgeville. A free meal will be served to everyone who comes. For information on volunteering, call (478) 453-4400.

12:30 p.m.: The Eatonton Duplicate Bridge Club, an official member of the American Contract Bridge League, meets at the Plaza Arts Center, 305 N. Madison Ave. in Eatonton. For more information contact Betty Roper at (706) 467-3079.

12:45 p.m.: The Milledgeville Kiwanis Club meets at the Milledgeville Country Club. Visitors are welcome to the program and to lunch with a club sponsor.

3 to 5 p.m.: Digital Bridges Open Computer Clinic is open in the Knight Community Innovation Center, 127 W. Hancock St. Work station availability is limited. The clinic is designed to teach basic skills to adult beginning computer users. Participants may come with specific questions or for general knowledge. 4 p.m.: N.A.M.I. (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Oconee, a support group for consumers, family, and friends of individuals with a severe mental illness/brain disorder, meets in the Christian Education Building of Covenant Presbyterian Church at 440 N. Columbia St. (478) 452-8600.

6:30 p.m.: Milledgeville City Council meets at City Hall.

7 p.m.: The Sweet Georgia Sound Sweet Adeline Chorus meets at Vineville Christian Towers to practice, socialize and sing. It is for women only. (478) 932-5387.
