MILLEDGEVILLE — Flu vaccines are now available at the Baldwin County Health Department. They will offer both the traditional flu shot and Flu Mist, which is a nasal spray. Vaccines will cost $25 but are available at no charge to those on Medicaid, Peachcare, Wellcare, Amerigroup, Medicare Part B, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia or a State Benefit Plan through United Healthcare or Cigna. Flu vaccines will also be offered in the schools this year. Parents will receive permission slips from their child’s school in the coming weeks.

The Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy of Baldwin County will host their inaugural Book it to the Finish 5K fundraiser. A Tiny Trot for children six and under will take place and a costume contest will be held as well. The event will provide children aged birth to five with appropriate books, one every month until their fifth birthday. All proceeds raised will stay in Baldwin County and be used to give books to all local children under the age of five. Registration for the Tiny Trot and the 5K is $25 until the day of the face. Registration forms can be picked up from any of the sponsors or at www.active.com. Family registration is $60 with a maximum of four people. Checks should be made payable to the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy. The event will take place at the North Baldwin County Fire Station at 105 Airport Road on Sept. 29.

10:30 a.m.: A Senior Olympic badminton club will be held at the Baldwin County Recreation Department gym.
