MILLEDGEVILLE — The Animal Rescue Foundation Inc. (ARF) will hold its 15th Annual ARF Auction on Saturday, March 2, at the Milledgeville Country Club. Tickets are $40 and there will be heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

Ocmulgee Court Appointed Special Advocates is looking for volunteers for its next training session. CASA is a non-profit organization that works with abused and neglected children that have found themselves involved in the court system through no fault of their own. These children need a voice in court and that is the role of CASA to see that these children have an opportunity to have their voices heard and to received services needed. Interested volunteers should contact the CASA office at (478) 452-9170 or visit their website at www.ocmulgeecasa.org.

The City of Milledgeville water department will be conducting maintenance on the 1 million gallon ground storage water tank located on Dunlap Road. The tank will be out of service beginning Jan. 29 and will remain out of service for approximately six weeks. This is part of the City’s preventive maintenance program to ensure a high quality of drinking water for our customers. Customers in this area may experience low water pressure and/or discolored water. If you experience this please contact the Water and Sewer office at (478) 414-4052.

 

Wednesday, Feb. 27

7:30 a.m.: Lake Oconee Promise Keepers meets at The River of Life center on Scott Road. Jack Minchey (706) 473-0431.

10 a.m. to noon: Abbey Hospice Foundation, 215 Azalea Court, Social Circle, holds Basic Adult CPR training using an Automated External Defibrillator. To reserve a spot, contact Monica Laguaite at (770) 464-5858 or email volunteer@abbeyhospice.com.

10:30 a.m. to noon: Free computer classes for seniors will be held at the Senior Citizens Center in Baldwin County.

1 p.m.: Falun Gong exercise class will be held at Central City Park (formerly Bonner Park) free of charge. Cultivate mind and body with 5 sets of easy-to-learn exercises good for all ages and all physical conditions. For more information, call (478) 453-4241.

1 to 3 p.m.: Digital Bridges Open Computer Clinic is open in the Knight Community Innovation Center, 127 W. Hancock St. Work station availability is limited. The clinic is designed to teach basic skills to adult beginning computer users. Participants may come with specific questions or for general knowledge. 3 to 5 p.m.: Mary Vinson Memorial Library, 151 S. Jefferson St., will host a We Read Program. Children may read with a designated reader and choose a special prize. For more information, contact Youth Services at (478) 452-0677 ext. 129.

3:30 to 5 p.m.: Mary Vinson Memorial Library, 151 S. Jefferson St., will host Teen Club (middle and high school students). Crafts, snacks and after school activities galore. For more information, contact Dabney Kinser at (478) 452-0677 ext. 127.

5 p.m.: Georgia College will hold a Georgia College Happy Hour Forum in the Library & Instructional Technology Center in the second floor. To RSVP, contact Gregg Kaufman at gregg.kaufman@gcsu.edu one week before each forum.

6 p.m.: The Bicycling Club of Milledgeville & Baldwin County meets in the basement of Blackbird Coffee on Hancock Street. Join cyclists of all types, ages and levels of ability to discuss plans for upcoming rides. Visit http://mvillebikes.com
