MILLEDGEVILLE —  

The Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the Small Business of the Year Award. The candidates are either nominated by customers or vendors, or a member may self-nominate. To learn more about the requirements for nominating a small business, contact the Chamber at (478) 453-9311. The Chamber will contact the nominees to get additional information for the competition.

Allied Arts will host a Chair Bottoming Workshop on Jan. 26, 2013 from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Registration is $62 and includes all materials. Flu vaccines are now available at the Baldwin County Health Department. They will offer both the traditional flu shot and Flu Mist, which is a nasal spray. Vaccines will cost $25 but are available at no charge to those on Medicaid, Peachcare, Wellcare, Amerigroup, Medicare Part B, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia or a State Benefit Plan through United Healthcare or Cigna.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Harriet's Closet, a free supply closet to help fill the needs of cancer patients, is open. The nonprofit organization dedicated to helping cancer patients in Central Georgia has relocated next door to Georgia Cancer Specialists building at Oconee Regional Medical Center. 11:45 a.m.: The Civitan Club of Baldwin County meets 2nd and 4th Thursdays at the Golden Corral. Civitan's main thrust worldwide is helping the physically and/or mentally challenged. 3 to 5 p.m.: Digital Bridges Open Computer Clinic is open in the Knight Community Innovation Center, 127 W. Hancock St. Work station availability is limited. The clinic is designed to teach basic skills to adult beginning computer users. Participants may come with specific questions or for general knowledge.
