MILLEDGEVILLE —  

Middle Georgia Art Association is accepting submissions for their Flowers, Twigs and Buds exhibit. The exhibit will be judged and is open to all Middle Georgia artists in all media. You must be 18 or older and out of high school to enter. Allied Arts will host a Chair Bottoming Workshop on Jan. 26, 2013 from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Registration is $62 and includes all materials. If you need a chair provided for the workshop or need more information, contact Allied Arts at (478) 452-3950. Instructors will be Randy Cannon and Brian Renko.

Gordon Better Hometown is overstocked on Christmas ornaments, past and present. If interested in purchasing one or want more information, contact (478) 233-3003.

Flu vaccines are now available at the Baldwin County Health Department. They will offer both the traditional flu shot and Flu Mist, which is a nasal spray. Vaccines will cost $25 but are available at no charge to those on Medicaid, Peachcare, Wellcare, Amerigroup, Medicare Part B, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia or a State Benefit Plan through United Healthcare or Cigna.

Wednesday, Jan. 9

7:30 a.m.: Lake Oconee Promise Keepers meets at The River of Life center on Scott Road. Jack Minchey (706) 473-0431. 

10:20 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Baby Time for ages 6 months to 18 months will be held at Mary Vinson Memorial Library, 151 South Jefferson St. For more information, call (478) 452-0677 (ext. 129).

10:30 a.m. to noon: Free computer classes for seniors will be held at the Senior Citizens Center in Baldwin County.

Noon: Milledgeville Exchange Club meets at the Milledgeville Country Club.

10:30 a.m.: The Oconee Master Gardeners Association hosts a free two-part workshop on food preservation at the Putnam County Cooperative Extension Office located at 663 Godfrey Road in Eatonton. For additional information contact Shawn Davis at (478) 454-8451 or Keith Fielder at (706) 485-4151.

1 p.m.: Falun Gong exercise class will be held at Central City Park (formerly Bonner Park) free of charge. Cultivate mind and body with 5 sets of easy-to-learn exercises good for all ages and all physical conditions. For more information, call (478) 453-4241.

1 to 3 p.m.: Digital Bridges Open Computer Clinic is open in the Knight Community Innovation Center, 127 W. Hancock St. Work station availability is limited. The clinic is designed to teach basic skills to adult beginning computer users. Participants may come with specific questions or for general knowledge. 3 p.m.: The Baldwin County Board of Assessors meets in the Baldwin County Courthouse in Rm. 104.

3 to 5 p.m.: We Read Program is held at Mary Vinson Memorial Library, 151 South Jefferson St. For more information, call (478) 452-0677 (ext. 129).

6 p.m.: Goldwing Road Riders Association Georgia Chapter 1 meets at the Golden Corral on North Columbia Street. Dinner is followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. All bikers and biker enthusiasts may attend.

6 p.m.: The County Commission meets in the Baldwin County Courthouse in Rm. 319.

8 p.m.: Milledgeville Humane Society hosts its Dog-Gone Benefit Concert featuring Hott With Harry Leggs at Cowboys, 2657 N. Columbia St. Proceeds go to benefit Animal Rescue Foundation. Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door. Tickets available at ARF, Cowboys, Aubri Lane’s and the Animal Hospital of Milledgeville. Call (478) 454-1273 for more information.
