Saturday, Sept. 19

8 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Delta Company FRG holds a community yard sale to benefit the Welcome Home celebration. The sale will be held at the Milledgeville Armory, 107 Hwy. 49 W. Space rentals are available. To book space, contact Kelly Butler-Collins at (478) 523-1894.

9 a.m.: Plantation Quilters meet at the visitor center at Jarrell Plantation near Juliette. Dues are $10 a year. Bretta Perkins (478) 986-5172

10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Midway Elementary's Fall Festival will be held at the school. The community is invited to attend.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Middle Georgia Gluten Intolerance Group presents “What to do About Breakfast” at Central Baptist Church, 3rd floor via the elevator, 1120 Lake Joy Road in Warner Robins. For more information, visit http://middlegeorgia.gigbranches.org or call (478) 397-5061.

2 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Auditions for little boys in the party scene for the 13th annual GCSU Nutcracker production will be held at Miller Dance Studio on the corner of Montgomery and Wayne Streets on the GCSU campus. The entrance faces Montgomery St. The production dates of the Nutcracker are Dec. 11 to 13. Approximately nine boys from grades 2 through 7 for the party scene. There will be about 8 rehearsals on Sunday afternoons for one hour from late September through early December. Interested boys should wear athletic shorts, tee shirts, socks and athletic shoes to the audition. For more information, call Amelia Pelton at (478) 452-7242.

6 p.m.: Meet, greet and eat with the 2010 Democratic candidates for Governor, Secretary of State, GA School Superintendent and more at the new Rock Eagle Dining Hall. 7:30 p.m.: The Plaza Arts Center will present the critically acclaimed Manhattan String Quartet who will perform three sensational pieces. First, will be a selection by Schubert and second will be Quartet #3, Op. 73 by Shostakovich. The Plaza Arts Center’s resident string quartet, Kazanetti, will perform Mendelssohn Octet in E-flat Major with MSQ for the final piece. The Manhattan String Quartet has been a mentor to Kazanetti over the past five years, and the two groups have performed together in Prague and annually at the music festival at Colgate University in New York. Tickets will be available to the public on August 3. Ticket prices are $25, $35 and $45 for assigned seating in the theater. Students and senior citizens receive a $5 discount. Sunday, Sept. 20

5 p.m.: Warren-Hawkins American Legion Auxiliary Unit 523 meets at the Milledgeville Police Department Public Safety Building on McIntosh Street. All members are urged to attend.



Monday, Sept. 21

7:30 a.m.: Lake Oconee Promise Keepers meets at The River of Life center on Scott Road. Jack Minchey (706) 473-0431.

Noon: Milledgeville Exchange Club meets at the Milledgeville Country Club

Noon to 4 p.m.: Harriet’s Closet, a free supply closet to help fill the needs of cancer patients, is open. The non-profit organization dedicated to helping cancer patients in Central Georgia has relocated next door to Georgia Cancer Specialists building at Oconee Regional Medical Center.

1 to 2:30 p.m.: Falun Gong offered at Central City Park (formerly Bonner Park) picnic area. Cultivate mind and body with five sets of easy-to-learn exercises suitable for all ages and all physical conditions. Classes are free. (478) 453-4241

2 p.m.: The American Legion Post 237, Hardwick (Davis-Watson Chapter) meets in the Birdsong Recreation Building at the Georgia War Veterans Home, 2249 Vinson Hwy. S.E. All Legion members are urged to attend. For more information, call (912) 506-5664.

5 p.m.: Sinclair Water Authority meets at 126 Cay Drive in Putnam County.

5:30 p.m.: The Baldwin High School Council meets in room 409 at Baldwin High School.

6 p.m.: The Mohawk Faith-Based Committee meet in Mohawk Conference Room on Roberson Mill Road.

6:30 p.m.: The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 523 meets at the American Legion Post 523 on Martin Luther King Drive.

7 p.m.: BINGO is held at the American Legion on Log Cabin Road. No one under the age of 18 is permitted. Refreshments are sold by the Ladies Auxiliary. (478) 452-8538

7:30 p.m.: Georgia College and State University presents a guest artist recital featuring Greg Pepetone on piano. The event will be held in the Max Noah Recital Hall and is free and open to the public.

7:30 p.m.: The Oconee River Buskers Square Dance Club meets at the Walter B. Williams Recreation Center. Round dancing begins at 6:30 p.m.
