Thursday, Jan. 28

All Department of Driver Services customer service centers and administrative offices throughout the state will be closed due to mandatory furlough days. Customers that many transactions including initiating a change of address or replacing a lost license can be done online at www.dds.ga.gov.

7 a.m.: The Old Capital Kiwanis Club meets in Room 2-52 of Herty Hall on the GCSU campus.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Oconee Regional Healthcare Foundation, in partnership with Pig in a Pit Bar-B-Que, will hold a BBQ Plate Fundraiser to benefit the Dr. Samuel Goodrich Medical Professional Scholarship Fund. Tickets are $8 and include your choice of pork or chicken, two sides and bread. Plates can be picked up at the Cobb Tower entrance (old main entrance) of Oconee Regional Medical Center. Tickets are available at the Pink Bow Gift Shop at Oconee Regional Medical Center, located in the lobby of the Park Tower entrance. Noon: The Rotary meets at the Country Club.

Noon: The Eatonton Kiwanis Club meets at Central Georgia Tech on the James Marshall bypass.

1 p.m.: The Eatonton Duplicate Bridge Club, an official member of the American Contract Bridge League, meets at the Eatonton Performing Arts Center at Madison Avenue in Eatonton. Come with a partner or e-mail Pat Turney at turney@plantationcable.net for a possible partner match.

2 to 5 p.m.: Free HIV testing at 900 Barrows Ferry Road. (478) 445-5518

5:30 p.m.: The Bicycling Club of Milledgeville meets at Bartram Forest on Carl Vinson Road for its weekly mountain bike ride for all levels. Ride at your own pace.

6 p.m.: Campus Club Milledgeville, a youth arts and enrichment program, will host a public forum to discuss its program. The forum will be held January 28, 2010 at the Kilpatrick Auditorium on the GCSU campus starting at 6 p.m. This forum is open to the public. (478) 387-0200

6:30 p.m.: The Old Capitol Optimist Club meets at the Golden Corral Restaurant on North Columbia Street. Interested citizens are welcome.

7:30 p.m.: Bingo is held at the American Legion Post 523 on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Refreshments will be sold. (478) 452-1611



Friday, Jan. 29

10 a.m.: Town & Gown Arts host the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble (CPRDE) in a mini-performance and lecture-demonstration in Russell Auditorium on the GCSU campus. Admission is $5. GCSU students are admitted with their university ID. Robinson attempts to educate audiences about the rich heritage and ancestral gifts on which this predominately African American ensemble draws. The Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble’s residency is sponsored by Allied Arts and Georgia College & State University’s Arts Unlimited Committee. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Putnam General Hospital Auxiliary holds a soup luncheon at First United Methodist Church in Eatonton. Tickets in advance or at the door are $6. Take-out or eat-in includes homemade vegetable soup, cornbread, tea and desserts. All profits go right back into the Putnam County-Eatonton community either for the free flu shots in October or much needed equipment for Putnam General Hospital.

The Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble’s residency is sponsored by Allied Arts and Georgia College & State University’s Arts Unlimited Committee. Tickets for the evening performance are $10 for adults and $8 for senior citizens and students (other than GCSU students). GCSU students are admitted with their university ID. 9 p.m.: THP Productions presents the 2nd Annual Old School Hair, Fashion, Talent and Comedy Extravaganza. The event will be held at La Fete on Hammock Road. Saturday, Jan. 30

7 p.m.: A Southern Gospel concert will be held at The Plaza Arts Center Theatre in Eatonton. Kindred Spirit and The Lord's Messengers will perform. A $10 donation will be accepted at the door.
