MILLEDGEVILLE — Wednesday, Oct. 17

7:30 a.m.: Lake Oconee Promise Keepers meets at The River of Life center on Scott Road. Jack Minchey (706) 473-0431.

10 a.m.: The American Legion Davis Watson Post 237, Hardwick, meets in the Birdsong Recreation Building at the Georgia War Veterans Home, 2249 Vinson Hwy. S.E. All Legion members are urged to attend. For more information call John W. Griffin, Sixth District Commander at (478) 453-0295.

10:30 a.m. to noon: Free computer classes for seniors will be held at the Senior Citizens Center in Baldwin County.

10:30 a.m.: VIP, a support group for visually impaired persons, meets at the First Presbyterian Church, 210 S. Wayne St. (478) 452-1444.

Noon: Milledgeville Exchange Club meets at the Milledgeville Country Club.

1 p.m.: Falun Gong exercise class will be held at Central City Park (formerly Bonner Park) free of charge. Cultivate mind and body with 5 sets of easy-to-learn exercises good for all ages and all physical conditions. For more information, call (478) 453-4241.

1 to 3 p.m.: Digital Bridges Open Computer Clinic is open in the Knight Community Innovation Center, 127 W. Hancock St. Work station availability is limited. The clinic is designed to teach basic skills to adult beginning computer users. Participants may come with specific questions or for general knowledge. 5 p.m.: The Central State Hospital Local Redevelopment Authority meets in City Council Chambers at City Hall.

6 p.m.: The Oconee Regional Medical Center/Oconee Regional Health Systems, Inc. Board meets in the Administrative Suite Board Room.



Thursday, Oct. 18

8:30 a.m.: The Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce Full Board meets in the Chamber Boardroom at 130 S. Jefferson St.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Harriet’s Closet, a free supply closet to help fill the needs of cancer patients, is open. The nonprofit organization dedicated to helping cancer patients in Central Georgia has relocated next door to Georgia Cancer Specialists building at Oconee Regional Medical Center. Noon: The Rotary meets at the Country Club.

Noon: The Eatonton Kiwanis Club meets at Central Georgia Tech on the James Marshall bypass.

1 p.m.: The Eatonton Duplicate Bridge Club, an official member of the American Contract Bridge League, meets at the Eatonton Performing Arts Center at Madison Avenue in Eatonton. Come with a partner or e-mail Pat Turney at turney@plantationcable.net for a possible partner match.

2 p.m.: Learning In Retirement will host their Book Club at First Presbyterian Church, 210 S. Wayne St.

3 p.m.: Learning in Retirement Writers’ Group will host Mr. Joshua Kitchens for a discussion on his duties as the Archivist of the Special Collections Department of Georgia College and State University Library and Instructional Technology Center. He will explain the universities project to record the history of Middle Georgia. The meeting will be held at the First Presbyterian Church.

7 p.m.: The Milledgeville Lions Club meets at the Golden Corral on North Columbia Street.

7:30 p.m.: Bingo is held at the American Legion Post 523 on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Refreshments will be sold. (478) 452-1611.



Friday, Oct. 19

GMC will host its Alumni Weekend at the Milledgeville campus. Some of the weekend’s events include a golf tournament; a dance with entertainment by “The Grapevine;” the presentation of the 2012 Alumni Awards during the Alumni Parade featuring the 134th Corps of Cadets with guest speaker Dr. George Coletti; a groundbreaking ceremony for GMC’s new Health and Wellness Center; a concert featuring Mac Frampton and his band performing “Yesterday Once More;” and several opportunities for tours of GMC’s campus.
