MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office

— Burglary

A man reported July 11 that his ex-girlfriend made a forced entry into his residence and stole his cell phone. The deputy observed that the front door was forced open and broken, and the man stated the woman kicked the door and confronted him about having another woman in the residence. The man said the woman stole his cell phone from the bedroom dresser drawer. Upon questioning the woman, she told the deputy that she had not been to the man’s residence. The woman, however, was taken into custody and arrested and charged with one count of burglary. The woman advised that she did go to the man’s residence, but did not make a forced entry into the home. The woman further advised that she didn’t know where the man’s cell phone was and she later advised that she took the cell phone and threw it into the wooded area behind his home. Deputies were unable to locate the cell phone.

Milledgeville Police Department

— Simple assault

An officer was dispatched to a home on West Charlton Court July 11 and met with a woman who stated that her husband hit her in the face with a shoe. The officer spoke with the woman’s husband, and he stated that they had an argument and she grabbed him, leaving claw marks on his chest. The woman said once she grabbed him, he pushed her off and in the process put his hand on her face to push her away and caused the side of her face to bruise. The officer asked the wife if any children were present and she stated that her youngest child was present. The husband said that the children were in a back room and kept trying to tell his wife to lower her voice because she would upset the children. The children were left in the custody of a family member and both the husband and wife were taken into custody for simple battery and cruelty toward children.
