Marijuana possession

A suspect was apprehended at a road check Friday around 9 p.m. after officers learned he had a warrant for failure to appear. A search of the suspect also yielded two bags of

marijuana.

Shoplifting

A loss prevention employee at a N. Columbia Street department store detained a woman after noticing her concealing items several times without paying for them. The suspect took clothing, towels, curtains, accessories and diapers totaling $137.

Burglary

A woman reported a break-in at her N. Wayne Street home and the theft of a TV Monday night.

Baldwin County Sheriff's Department

Theft by taking

A man reported the theft of his friend's wallet containing $200 and a checkbook from a home in Irwinton Road Thursday. When the man confronted a friend who stopped by his house to borrow pants, the friend told him someone was going to “shoot his house up.” Deputies were allowed to search the home of the friend and did not find any sign of the wallet. The case remains active.

Theft by taking

A woman reported that her home burned down approximately one week ago and that she had asked a neighbor to retrieve her mail for her. The woman received a new box of checks in the mail and when she went to pick up her mail, she noticed one book from one box was missing. The woman was advised to contact the account holder.

Burglary

A woman reported a break-in at her Sparta Highway residence and damage to a door that occurred sometime last week.
