The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.
Milledgeville Police Department
— Shoplifting
Someone reported that a man took a pair of shoes and put them in his pants before attempting to leave a store in the 2500 block of North Columbia Street Friday around 1:30 p.m. according to a police report.
— Shoplifting
Someone reported that a man took two shirts from Belk and was caught by mall personnel and mall security at Maurice’s with the shirts, according to a police report. The man and his companion were trespassed from the mall and he was arrested, according to the report.
— Burglary
Someone reported a break-in at a home on Oconee Street Saturday around 7 p.m. and the theft of a DVD player and a Nintendo Wii, according to a police report.
— Simple assault
Someone reported being struck in the face while leaving a Wayne Street bar around 12:30 a.m. early Sunday morning and received an injury because of the assault, according to the police report.
— Auto theft
Someone reported the theft of his car from a home on West Thomas Court Sunday morning around 3 a.m. according to a police report. The car owner described it as missing the front bumper and having both headlights held in by tape, according to the report. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office recovered the vehicle during a roadblock, and the owner did not press charges against the man who was driving the vehicle, according to a police report.
— Shoplifting
Someone reported a woman taking a box of tampons from a department store on South Wayne Street and concealing them in her purse, according to a police report. The accused shoplifter removed the item from her purse and placed it under her arm but was placed under arrest, according to the report. While in the patrol car, she began striking her head against the cage, causing her forehead to bleed and the responding officer turned on video surveillance in the car for documentation purposes.
— Damage to property
Someone reported that her passenger side front tire had been slashed sometime Sunday while it was parked at a home on East Thomas Street, according to a police report.
— Fire in roadway
An officer on patrol discovered a fire burning on the double yellow line of Dunlap Road around 2 a.m. Monday, according to a police report. The Milledgeville Fire Department responded to the scene, and upon inspection, the burning material was discovered to be an unknown bundle of cloth with remnants of shotgun shells, according to the report. Because of the visual observation of the fire and the discolored water resulting from the efforts of the fire department, the officer suspects the presence of an accelerant, according to the report. The report also notes the presence of spray-painted graffiti that may be gang-related in the proximity of the fire.
Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office
— Burglary
Someone reported a break-in at a home on Valley Road sometime Friday night and the theft of two rings from a jewelry box according to a sheriff’s report.
— Criminal damage to property
Someone reported that two cars at a Vinson Highway car title lending company were broken into and speakers and a CD player were taken sometime Wednesday night, according to a sheriff’s report.
— Burglary
Someone reported that someone had broken into her home on Belfair Drive sometime Thursday, according to a sheriff’s report.
— Burglary
Someone reported a break-in at a home on Ogden Terrace and the theft of $400 cash from beneath a mattress sometime Thursday, according to a sheriff’s report.
— Entering an auto
Someone reported that his son’s car is in his care while the son serves in a military deployment, according to a sheriff’s report. The man reported that sometime Monday or Tuesday, someone took a CD player, rim and tire, side mirror and car battery from the vehicle as it was parked on Oglethorpe Avenue according to a sheriff’s report.
— Burglary
Someone reported a break-in at a home on Ogden Terrace sometime Thursday, according to a sheriff’s report. The woman reported that as she was in her living room, someone broke out a rear window to her home and she called authorities, according to the report.
— Shoplifting
Someone reported that a female left a convenience store on Highway 49 Thursday around 1 a.m. with three cases of beer without paying for it, according to a sheriff’s report.
