MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office

— Burglary

A man reported July 8 that he returned to his home, in the 1400 block of South Jefferson Street, and he noticed the rear door to the residence was open. The man said he saw that the door had been busted open and there was damage to the doorframe. The complainant and the deputy checked the residence and nothing appeared to be missing, although the residence was in disarray from the offender going through the complainant’s belongings.

— Obscene telephone contact with a child

A 20-year-old man was arrested July 8 after a woman reported that she went through her daughter’s cell phone and discovered several pictures of a man’s anatomy, and her daughter is only 13 years old. The juvenile stated to the deputy that the offender was a brother of one of her friends, and he had recently gotten her number from a friend and she had exchanged text messages with the man previously, but she had never seen the man other than in pictures. The deputy looked at the three pictures and they were of a male’s genitals in various states, and the pictures were sent from a number that the juvenile stated was the man’s telephone number. The deputy made contact with the man, and he stated that he had sent the juvenile a few pictures, but they were of his face. The man’s father gave the deputy consent to look in the bathroom where the deputy observed the same type of floor covering that was in the pictures received by the juvenile. The man was subsequently taken into custody without incident and he transported to the sheriff’s office where he was charged with one count of obscene telephone contact with a child.

Milledgeville Police Department

— Theft by taking

An employee of Walmart reported July 12 that after reviewing the store’s surveillance tape for July 10, she discovered that an unknown black male had taken items from the electronics department. The man said the male subject entered the electronics department at or around 2:26 a.m. and removed six Apple iPods from under the counter. The store’s surveillance shows the subject wearing a white shirt, white hat and khaki pants walking around the counter, removing the items and coming back minutes later to retrieve the items.

— Theft by taking

A man reported July 13 that sometime between 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday, someone stole a gray slider bench from the front porch of his home. The man said he wanted to file a report in case he locates the bench. The bench is part of a set and is easily identifiable to the complainant.

— Burglary

A woman reported July 13 that someone entered her residence, located in the 1200 block of Charlton Court, and stole a coffee can from her child’s closet that contained at least $20 worth of change. The woman said she thought the offender possibly entered the home through a window and the window contained an AC unit with plastic side panels. The woman said one side of the unit’s panels appeared to have been tampered with and the back door was unlocked. The woman had fixed the panels prior to the officer’s arrival. Nothing else in the home appeared to have been tampered with.

— Criminal trespass

An officer met with a male complainant at a home in the 600 block of South Warren Street July 13 in reference to a person being trespassed from the location. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a male complainant who stated that he wished for his father to be trespassed from his residence due to him no longer being welcome there because of a previous incident involving illegal narcotics in or at the residence. The man advised that he wanted his father to gather his belongings and leave his residence, and he also wanted it noted in the police report that he wished to trespass his mother, too, even though she was not present at the time of the incident. The man’s father said he was staying with his son temporarily and they got into a verbal altercation with one another and he left the location and advised that he would return later for his property. The man said when he arrived there this date, he got all of his belongings except for a CD player, which his son said he was keeping. The two got into a verbal altercation, and he attempted to get his CD player back, but the son pulled out a knife and began to throw random items in his general direction, according to the complainant’s father. All other persons on the location could not, or would not, confirm or deny any of the events that allegedly occurred. The complainant’s father was trespassed from the location.
