Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office
— Public nuisance animal
A woman reported Aug. 20 that she noticed a brown bulldog in her yard, in the 100 block of Fox Hill Road, that appeared to have been shot. The woman said she made contact with her neighbor in her yard and the neighbor advised that he shot at the dog because it was attacking his animals and damaging his property. Animal control arrived on the scene, and upon making contact with the neighbor, the man told the deputy that two brown dogs were attacking his chickens and turkeys and the dogs had injured several of the turkeys and chickens. The man said he tried to scare the dogs away, but they did not leave, and the dogs began to get aggressive with his dog so he retrieved his .45 caliber handgun and fired about seven shots at the dogs. The man advised that he believed he struck one of the dogs with a round. At the time of the report, the owners of the dogs could not be reached, as they were out of town.
— Battery
A 28-year-old man was arrested Aug. 21 after a deputy with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office reported that she was drinking with a friend that she knew as Cowboy at her residence, in the 100 block of First Street, and the man approached her and told her that he liked her. The woman then replied that she did not like him and the man said he wanted to kiss her and she refused. The woman said she resisted and he struck her in the head with his hand. The woman had minor abrasions to her left leg and had dirt on her clothing. The woman said the man then released her and went to his residence just down the road. A warrant was secured for one count of battery.
— Entering auto
A man reported Aug. 20 that he was at the Waffle House, located on North Columbia Street, around 2 a.m. this date and he left the Waffle House around 3 a.m. and returned home. When he returned home, however, he realized that his 9 mm Jennings pistol was missing and the item was taken from beside the driver’s seat or from a pair of pants that were in the back seat.
— Vehicle pursuit
A deputy with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the area of Irwinton Road Aug. 20 and observed a white Ford Crown Victoria matching the description of a BOLO given earlier in the night by dispatch for a stolen vehicle out of the Milledgeville Police Department. After further investigation, a vehicle pursuit ensued and the driver fled the vehicle on foot at the intersection of North Main Street and Selma Drive. Warrants were secured for the man and citations are pending.
— False statements, disruption of a public school
An officer responded to a classroom at Baldwin High School Aug. 23 in reference to a possible disruption of public schools investigation. Upon arrival, the deputy approached the classroom and noticed all the students standing along the hallway and the teacher informed the officer that someone had set off a stink bomb inside the classroom. The deputy was accompanied by the principal and several other administrators, and after a short while an investigation was conducted to determine who was responsible for setting off the stink bomb. After a thorough questioning of the students, two 16-year-old girls were detained, as one admitted to bringing the stink bomb to the school and the other admitted to setting it off. One student was charged with disruption of public schools, and she was detained by the department of juvenile justice and taken to the Sandersville RYDC. The other student was charged with false statements and writing and she was released to her parent at the request of DJJ.
