MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office

— Theft by shoplifting

A 33-year-old man was arrested Aug. 16 after an employee of Jet No. 33, located in the 1900 block of North Jefferson Street, reported that the man came into the store and placed items down his pants and left without paying for them. A description of the suspect was dispatched and a deputy made contact with a subject fitting the description, and upon further investigation of the surveillance video, the subject was seen placing items of food down the front of his pants. The man was arrested and charged with one count of theft by shoplifting.

— Burglary

A woman reported Aug. 11 that she left her residence, located in the 1300 block of Irwinton Road, around 9 p.m. and returned a few hours later to find that the front window of her residence was broken. The woman stated that she entered her residence and observed her Panasonic 36-inch television missing from the table in the living room, but nothing else was found missing. The woman said she would attempt to retrieve the serial number information from Farmer’s Furniture.

— Criminal trespass

The owner of a mobile home park, located in the 2500 block of Belfair Drive, arrived at the mobile home park Aug. 11 and observed a black male wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans cutting up one of his trailer frame. The complainant stated that he questioned the individual, asking him who had given him permission to cut up the frames, and the man said that another man had given him the job. Several suspects were named in the case, but no arrests have been made.

— Burglary

A man reported Aug. 7 that an unknown person entered into a storage building at Sinclair-Oconee Homes, in the 2700 block of Highway 441 North, and took one buffet table without permission.

— Alleged burglary

A man reported Aug. 12 that he left his residence around noon, and about two minutes after he left, he felt that something wasn’t right at his residence, so he returned home and observed his folder, filled with documents, missing from inside of the residence. The man said he believed a family of eight people took the folder and the same group of people would come to his residence throughout the night and circle the perimeter of his residence. The man also stated that when he left the residence, he secured his front door. The man asked to file a report for documentation purposes.

— Burglary

A woman reported Aug. 10 that her mother’s beauty shop, located in the 100 block of Elder Street, was broken into and the offender stole money that was hidden in the closet. The woman said that the offender had to be someone that her mother knew, and the only item missing from the store was a can of money worth $75. The woman said that the offender entered through the back door of the mobile home.

Milledgeville Police Department

A woman reported Aug. 13 that a man came to her residence, located in the 400 block of West Thomas Court, and struck her in the face. The officer did not, however, note any marks on the woman’s face.
