MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

— Damage to property
An employee of The Harbors, located in the 100 block of Misty Lane, reported Aug. 9 that a woman had left the clubhouse in a mess. The man said that he attempted to get inside of the clubhouse around 7:30 a.m. and was unable to because the deadbolt was locked. The man further said that this area is never supposed to be locked with the deadbolt because all of the tenants have access codes to the door and should be able to enter at any time. The employee then called management and a man came down to the clubhouse and began knocking on the door and calling for his daughter. The man said that the woman then came to the door and unlocked it and exited the clubhouse with a male, and the manager expressed his apologies. The complainant said that once he entered the clubhouse, he discovered the places was a mess and pillows were left on the floor, water bottles were left undisposed of and the curtain rod was pulled down from the wall in the male restroom. The complainant stated that management didn’t want to press charges but wanted to be sure that this didn’t happen again, as they have received complainants before from other tenants stating that the clubhouse was locked on three to four other occasions the previous week.

A man reported Aug. 9 that someone stole two batteries out of the back of his bulldozer within the last seven days while the piece of equipment was parked in the 100 block of Ogden Road at the Ogden Inert Landfill. No suspects.
— Robbery
A man reported Aug. 8 that earlier on this date, while he was walking home from down the road, a black male jumped from the bushes in front of a home in the 100 block of Sugarberry Lane and the male went into his front left pocket and took $87 and fled on foot.
— Theft by taking
A woman reported Aug. 7 that a home in the 100 block of Moran Springs Road had recently been foreclosed on by BB&T and the previous tenant was given the first chance to buy the residence before it was sold on the market. The complainant stated that the woman was renting to own the house through BB&T and she stopped payments on the residence and moved out. After a couple of days, the real estate agent checked on the residence and found that all of the carpet in the living area, the refrigerator, stove and all of the Central AC unit parts and unit were missing.

A man reported Aug. 10 that he was in his apartment at Georgetown Apartments on Ga. Highway 49 and he heard his vehicle starting up, and he ran outside and saw someone in his vehicle attempting to drive away. The man said that he then shouted by the occupants to stop and the unknown person drove away with his dark gray 1991 Chevy C1500 toward Ga. Hwy. 49, eastbound. The man said he did not see the driver of the vehicle and the vehicle did not require keys to start, as it can be started by simply turning the starter switch. A local BOLO was issued to the MPD and other surrounding agencies.
— Burglary
A B&B Elite Auto Sales employee reported Aug. 9 that on Aug. 6 he was at the business, located in the 2900 block of North Columbia Street, cleaning and while he was there, he had taken an entertainment system out of a vehicle and placed it in the back room of the business. The man said that he did not known the make, model or serial number of the unit, but it did play CD’s, DVD’s and the radio. The man said upon returning to the business the next day, he noticed that the entertainment system was missing, and he checked the business and did not see any signs of forced entry. The man said he checked with employees that had keys and no one had been inside since he had left the night before. The man said that he believed that someone that previously rented the building still had a key and made entry into the business and stole the item.

A man reported Aug. 9 that while he was on community service detail, his 10-speed bicycle was stolen. The man said that he left a purple 10-speed bicycle in front of Jet Food No. 6, located in the 2000 block of Irwinton Road, while he went to do community service, and when he returned, the bicycle was gone.
— Criminal trespass, damage to property
A woman reported Aug. 11 that sometime between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. this date, her vehicle had been damaged. The woman said she noticed a small dent in the front passenger side door and a small dent in the rear passenger side door. The woman said that she went to several different locations during the day but did not notice the damage to the vehicle until she arrived home in the evening.

A woman reported Aug. 15 that her 1999 Acura was damaged during a road check this date. According to the complainant, her son had borrowed the vehicle and he was arrested, so her nephew took possession of the vehicle. Upon being returned to the complainant, the woman found that the speakers in the vehicle, armrest and interior light fixture were damaged.
— Criminal trespass
A deputy patrolling in the area of the Family Store on Vinson Hwy. observed a group of black males standing under the No Loitering sign at the store Aug. 15, and upon pulling into the parking lot to make contact with the males, one of the males began to quickly walk away from the deputy. The deputy drove over to the male and exited his vehicle, and upon confirming the man’s identity, the deputy realized that he had already counseled the man approximately one month earlier for loitering in this very same parking lot. The man was previously let go with a warning, but due to the previous warning, the man was taken into custody and charged with one count of criminal trespassing.
