MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.



Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office

— Burglary

A woman reported Aug. 21 that she returned to her home, in the 100 block of Oglethorpe Avenue, and found that someone had ransacked the residence and went through the owner’s belongings. A Sony 32-inch flat screen TV, Sealy mattress and box spring, solid oak bed frame, two short length fur coats, two leather jackets and one Dell desktop computer were taken from the residence.  

— Burglary

A man reported Aug. 21 that around 3:20 p.m. on this date, he went to the outbuilding at his home, in the 400 block of Pancras Road, to get a tool and noticed that his two chain saws were missing. The man said that the door to his out-building has been open and unsecured for the past three weeks and there were no signs of forced entry.

— Burglary

A woman reported Aug. 16 that an unknown person or persons entered an unoccupied dwelling located in the 100 block of Oglethorpe Avenue, within an undetermined time and removed the listed items, along with attempting to remove a microwave oven. Most the rooms in the home were gone through and ransacked, and it was undetermined as to the exact items removed due to the home owner living in the Atlanta area; however, a 19-inch Magnavox color TV and a small countertop refrigerator were reported missing from the home.

— Entering auto

A woman reported Aug. 20 that she left her purse in the center console of her vehicle, unsecured, while it was parked in the 1400 block of Jefferson Street. The woman said the next day her husband found that her purse was missing from the console, and her son’s wallet and iPod Touch was also missing from the vehicle. The woman reported that the contents of her purse were found dumped out on the ground and the only thing missing from it was $200 cash.  

— Theft by deception

A woman reported Aug. 20 that a woman was a contracted worker as a medical caregiver from Healthcare Staffing working for a mental healthy facility in Milledgeville to provide in home services to a consumer. The complainant stated that the contracting agency had the responsibility to verify the work and hours served by the employee, and a complainant suggesting that a consumer was not getting the care requested and paid for prompted a site visit by the complainant. Upon arrival, the woman found that the employee was only reporting to the home two days a week, yet her time sheets reported four to five visits a week. The woman investigated further and discovered that the fraudulent time sheets dated back to May.



Milledgeville Police Department

— Entering auto

A man reported Aug. 25 that he left his vehicle locked in his driveway, located in the 300 block of Pine Avenue, on Aug. 24 around 8:30 p.m. with his handgun in a compartment under the passenger seat. He stated when he returned to his vehicle the next morning around 8:30 a.m., his handgun was missing and the passenger side door of his vehicle was unlocked. An officer inspected the vehicle and there appeared to be no pry marks on either door. It is unknown how the vehicle was entered.

— Terroristic threats

A man reported Aug. 25 that he was threatened by another man who had been cussing at him and his friends and threatening to cause physical harm to them. The officer spoke with the other two victims and each also stated that the same altercation had occurred. The officer then went and spoke with the man, who was a nearby neighbor, on Baldwin Avenue, and he stated that he was advising subjects about having parties and loud noises coming from their residence at all hours of the night. The officer advised the man that if he had a problem with his neighbors, he needed to call the police department and the police would deal with the situation. The man was advised not to make any more contact with the subjects and he was trespassed from the residence. The next date another subject reported that the same man was threatening to do bodily harm to him. The man further said that the offender then started chasing him with a baseball bat and swinging it at him. The man said he backed into his yard, told the man he was calling the police and the man left and went back to his own residence. The man was charged with three counts of terroristic threats, due to the man getting into another altercation with another nearby neighbor. He is also charged with reckless conduct and simple assault.

— Burglary

A man reported Aug. 25 that when arriving home to the 200 block of Oak Avenue, he noticed the side entrance door to his residence was ajar. The man said that the dog was barking and he then noticed that the window near the door was busted, with a chair cushion lying across the window frame. The man said that the only thing that appeared to be missing was an HP laptop, which he had a serial number for, and he advised that his aunt is the one that resides at the residence but she is currently in the hospital.

— Theft by taking

An officer was dispatched to Walmart, located in the 2500 block of North Columbia Street, Aug. 26 in reference to two black male subjects taking three televisions from the store. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a Walmart employee who stated that she observed two black male subjects take three TVs from the business and the suspects left through the fire door in the Lawn and Garden department. The officer then spoke with a man who witnessed the incident, and he stated that he observed a black Toyota Four-Runner parked outside the Tire and Lube Center and he noticed two black male subjects in the vehicle. The man said that the vehicle was backed beside the compacted cardboard pallets, and he went back inside the business, but once he heard the call go out about two subjects taking televisions from the location, he noticed the vehicle leave the area in a hurry. There was no tag information available at the time of the report and no other current suspect information either. The officer advised the Walmart Loss Prevention staff to check the tapes in the morning so a copy could be made for the detective’s bureau.
