MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.



Milledgeville Police Department

— Burglary

A woman at an Allen Memorial Drive residence reported an unknown person entering her home without permission sometime between Sept. 29 and Oct. 1. Pain medication and a cell phone were taken from the residence.

— Theft by Taking

A woman reported her cell phone had been taken while she was doing business at a North Columbia Street establishment around 11:55 p.m. Oct. 1. She informed the officers that she had a GPS tracking feature on her phone and requested that an officer go to the address to retrieve the device.



Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office

— Criminal Trespass

Around 10:30 a.m. Oct. 2, a man reported damage to his vehicle on South Elbert Street. The incident occurred between that morning and Sept. 27. The officer observed slight damage to the right rear quarter panel area and a broken right real tail light. No warrants or charges are pending.

— Theft by Taking

A window unit valued at $100 was reported missing from a man’s rental property on Highway 22 Oct. 2. The owner stated the tenants were behind on their rent and left after the power was cut off to the house. The officer observed a couch in the living room pulled away from the wall and that the screen was removed from the window.

— Theft by Taking

A man stated another man collected rent from one of his tenants Aug. 6 but never returned the money. The rent was paid in $400 cash. The offender who admitted to taking the rent stated the money was taken as payment for money owed. The complainant must seek assistance from court.

— DUI

An officer conducted a traffic stop Sept. 25 for a seat belt violation. After a brief investigation, the driver was cited for DUI and drug violations. The vehicle stop occurred on Irwinton Road. The driver has a warrant outstanding in Jones County. Along with three other passengers, the driver stated he smoked marijuana prior to the stop. A small bag containing a substance believed to be marijuana was found in the driver’s shoe.

— Theft by Taking

A women in Eatonton reported a theft from her Wayne Street Apartment between Oct. 1 and 2. She stated her estranged husband took several boxes and a smart phone belonging to her mother. Contact was made with the ex-husband at Pierce-Johnson Road. He returned the phone but said the complainant must have misplaced the other items.
