MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

— Public nuisance animal

A man reported Aug. 14 that on July 12, sometime between 6:30 and 6:45 a.m., a large black dog entered his property and killed several of his chickens. The man stated that he notified Baldwin County Animal Control after discovering the large black dog on the property killing his chickens and shortly after notifying animal control, the dog returned and killed another chicken. The man said that due to the dog returning and killing more of his chickens and animal control not arriving in a reasonable amount of time, he shot at the dog four times. The man said he was unsure if he had wounded the dog, but the dog had not returned since the incident. The man said that animal control arrived at his home sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. and a total of 50 laying hens were killed by the dog, a value of approximately $1,000.
