Milledgeville Police Department
— DUI
An officer on his way to another call observed a 21-year-old female facing eastbound, but waiting in the westbound lane to turn onto North Columbia Street March 28, a police report states. According to the report, the reporting officer approached and the female turned southbound on North Columbia Street. The reporting officer then met with another female in reference to an incident between her and her roommates and while speaking with the female, the roommate drove up in a blue 2004 Honda Accord, the report states. The 21-year-old female then pulled the vehicle forward a short distance, but then reversed to the original stopping location before turning slightly and pulling forward again, the report states. The female exited the vehicle and began a verbal altercation with the roommate, and the officer advised the two that the dispute was a civil matter and they could pursue matters further with the appropriate entity of the judicial system, the report states. During the conversation between the two, the officer noticed that the 21-year-old appeared to have slurred speech, glassy eyes and a lack of balance while on her feet, the report states. The female then agreed to take the Alco-Sensor test, which she failed, and she was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, the report states.
— Burglary
An officer reported to the 100 block of North Wayne Street, Deano’s Pizza, March 28 in reference to a burglary alarm system that was activated in the rear zone of the building at 1:27 a.m., a police report states. Upon arrival, the officer met with another officer who informed the officer via radio transmission that the door appeared to be unsecured, the report states. The officers inspected the rear door closer and found that the door had been forced open and the door jam was splintered, the report states. The two officers then entered the business, and nothing appeared to be out of place and the cash register and safe looked to be untouched, the report states. The station then advised that a key holder called and said that they would have someone en route to re-secure the door, but after an hour and a half passed, the officers re-secured the doors themselves and left the location, the report states.
— Burglary
An officer reported to the 1100 block of North Jefferson Street March 28 in reference to a burglary alarm at the American Red Cross, a police report states. According to the report, upon arrival the officer checked the west and north side of the building and all appeared secure, but another officer checked the east end of the building and found a shattered window. The officer requested the key holder to be en route to check for missing items and secure the window. Once the key holder arrived, the officers searched the building and found what appeared to be muddy shoe tracks inside, but the key holder advised that everything appeared to be in order and nothing appeared to be taken from the building, the report states. The window was secured with a piece of plywood, the report states.
— Harassing communication
Someone reported that an older male called her and her son’s cell phone and made lewd comments on both cell phones on March 27, a police report states. According to the report, after speaking with the suspect, he would only state that his name was Cherry and the officer instructed him never to call these phones again. The suspect then stated that he would not call again and apologized for his actions, the report states.
— Theft by shoplifting
Someone reported that a black female concealed approximately 10 CDs and a yellow shirt in her pocketbook in the electronics department of Kmart, in the 1900 block of North Columbia Street, March 28, a police report states. The complainant advised that he confronted the unknown female at the door, after she paid for water at the cash register, and the female then ran out of the location, the report states. The complainant further advised that the suspect was a previous employee, and he told the officer that he could not remember her name, the report states.
— Theft by taking
Someone reported that while she was at Capital City, in the 100 block of South Wayne Street, her purse was in the care of her friend when it was taken by an unknown suspect, a police report states. According to the report, $400, a Verizon cell phone, miscellaneous credit cards, cosmetics and a set of car keys were inside of the $250 black leather Coach purse.
— Theft by taking
Someone reported that a lady’s purse was found inside the men’s restroom at Capital City Pizza, in the 100 block of South Wayne Street, March 29, a police report states. According to the report, the officer made contact with personnel who found the purse, and they handed the officer the purse and he located the owner’s identification card within it and had personnel find her in the crowd. Once making contact with the female, the officer had her go through the purse to see if anything was missing, and she stated that her black Motorola flip cell phone valued at $100 was missing, the report states. At approximately 2:45 a.m., the victim contacted the police department and stated that personnel of Capital City found her cell phone undamaged under a table, the report states.
— Theft by shoplifting
A 17-year-old white male was arrested March 29 after an employee of Kroger, in the 1900 block of North Columbia Street, saw the male attempt to leave Kroger with $21.77 in merchandise without paying for it, a police report states. According to the report, the complainant stated that she stopped the suspect at the door and took him to the manager’s office and the male was taken into custody and was issued a citation for shoplifting.
Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office
— Entering auto
Someone reported that $40 was taken from the center console of a vehicle parked in the 100 block of A. Scott Hill Street on March 26, a sheriff’s report states. According to the report, there was no forced entry and the complainant stated that she always leaves her doors unlocked. The complainant advised that the offender was possibly a female who was seen earlier opening the door of the shed in the yard of the residence, the report states.
— Entering auto
Someone reported that sometime between 1 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. March 27, an unknown person stole several items from the trunk of a vehicle parked in the 100 block of A. Scott Hill Road, a sheriff’s report states. According to the report, the complainant further advised that this is the second time in two days someone has stolen items out of her vehicle, and there was no forced entry due to the vehicle being unlocked during both incidents. The complainant advised that a Pioneer CD Player, a 1600-watt amplifier and one book of CDs were stolen, the report states.
— Burglary
Someone reported that a residence in the 100 block of Thomasfield Road was broken into while the resident was at work March 26, a sheriff’s report states. According to the report, the complainant advised that she left for work around 7 a.m. on March 26 and returned around 11 a.m. to find the front door of her mobile home kicked in. The complainant stated she had a Nintendo Wii, a PlayStation 2 and approximately 15 video games stolen from the residence, the report states. The complainant further advised that two controllers were also taken, the report states.
